“In a Knick of Time (San Antonio)” — a map piece created with oil pastels, capturing the moment the New York Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs in Game 5 to secure their second NBA championship in 53 years. This celebratory composition showcases the excitement of a championship-clinching victory, with players and fans reveling in the moment as champagne bottles spray in tribute to their achievement as world champions.

“The Final Boss” (Revisited) — Map piece by Andrew Chavers, created with oil pastels, colored pencils, and acrylic paint markers.

This revisited version of The Final Boss builds upon the original work, adding new details and energy to the composition. Inspired by the NBA Finals matchup between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs, the piece tells the story of “Captain Clutch,” Jalen Brunson, taking down “The Alien,” Victor Wembanyama, on the Spurs’ home court in San Antonio.

The artwork captures my prediction of Brunson and the Knicks finishing the job in either Game 5 or Game 6, overcoming what many view as the final obstacle on the road to a championship. Revisiting this piece allowed me to further develop the narrative and intensity of the moment while staying true to the original vision.

As a lifelong Knicks fan, I’m hopeful this prediction becomes reality—and that next weekend is spent celebrating at a championship parade in New York City.

The highlighted and defined word is “old school.”

This piece is a tribute to the simple joys and creative inspirations of growing up in the 1990s. As a kid, I loved collecting cups from my favorite fast-food restaurants, fascinated by their unique designs, colors, and characters. I would often place them on the table and spend hours drawing them while enjoying my favorite soda at the time—Strawberry Slice.

That same curiosity and creativity extended to cereal boxes, whose artwork and graphics became another source of inspiration for my early sketches. Long before social media and digital entertainment, these everyday objects sparked my imagination and helped shape my artistic journey.
