Hello Strasburg neighbors!

I'm excited to announce a new FREE tabletop roleplaying game night happening right here in town!

I'll be hosting Dungeon Crawl Classics (DCC) sessions every Tuesday and Thursday from 6-8 PM at my home on South Massanutten Street. This is perfect for anyone interested in fantasy adventure games, with an old-school, lighthearted approach that's easy to learn.

The best part? It's specifically designed for beginners! No experience necessary, and all game materials are provided. We'll be starting with "Sailors on the Starless Sea," a fun adventure where each player controls multiple characters on a dangerous mission.

Our first session is Tuesday, May 27th. Limited to 4 players, so if you're interested, please check out our page "Strasburg DCC" and RSVP to the event!

🔍 WHAT IS DCC?

Dungeon Crawl Classics is a roleplaying game that captures the spirit of classic fantasy adventures from the golden age of pulp fiction. It's all about brave heroes delving into dangerous dungeons, confronting terrifying monsters, and uncovering ancient treasures!

⚔️ WHAT MAKES IT UNIQUE?

• WEIRD DICE: DCC uses unusual dice like d3, d5, d7, d14, d16, d24, and d30 (but don't worry, I have plenty to share!)
• MAGIC IS WILD: Spellcasting is unpredictable and powerful - every spell cast is an adventure
• CRITICAL HITS & FUMBLES: Epic successes and hilarious failures are built into the system
• LUCK MATTERS: Your Luck score can be spent to improve rolls, but it doesn't recover easily!

🧙‍♂️ THE LEVEL 0 FUNNEL 🧙‍♀️

In "Sailors on the Starless Sea" and other Level 0 adventures:
• Each player controls 3-4 ZERO-LEVEL CHARACTERS
• These are ORDINARY VILLAGERS with basic equipment
• Most will DIE in spectacular ways
• SURVIVORS level up to become proper adventurers!

This "funnel" approach is both hilarious and creates characters with genuine backstories - you'll remember how your warrior survived when his farmer friends didn't!

📝 CHARACTER CREATION

For our game nights, I'll provide pre-generated characters, but here's how they work:
• 3d6 for ability scores
• 1d4 hit points (yes, that's LOW!)
• Random occupation (like cheesemaker, grave digger, or rat catcher)
• Simple starting gear based on occupation

👀 WHAT A TURN LOOKS LIKE:

1. DESCRIBE what you want to do
2. ROLL the appropriate dice
3. I'll narrate the results based on your roll
4. We all enjoy the chaos that unfolds!

No complex tactics or rule memorization needed - just tell me what your character tries to do, and we'll figure out what happens!

💀 EMBRACE THE DEADLINESS 💀

DCC doesn't pull punches. Characters will die. But that's part of the fun! The survivors become legends BECAUSE they made it when others didn't.

WELCOME TO DUNGEON CRAWL CLASSICS GAME NIGHTS! 🐉🎲

Hello adventurers and soon-to-be heroes! I'm Dave, your Judge (Game Master) for regular Dungeon Crawl Classics sessions here in Strasburg. This page will serve as our hub for all DCC-related announcements, session recaps, and community building.

When: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6-8 PM (New adventures start on Tuesdays!)
Where: My home - 284 South Massanutten St, Strasburg, VA (corner of Massanutten and Brown Street)
Cost: Completely FREE!
Duration: 2-hour sessions (adventures may continue from Tuesday to Thursday)
Note: I have a friendly Shiba Inu and Lab mix who will be present. He's very friendly but does shed, so keep this in mind if you have allergies.

WHAT IS DCC LEVEL 0?

New to Tabletop RPGs? Perfect! Dungeon Crawl Classics is an old-school fantasy roleplaying game that captures the unpredictable excitement of classic dungeon adventures.

In a Level 0 adventure, you'll start with not just one character, but a handful of ordinary villagers - a turnip farmer, blacksmith, or grave digger perhaps - who must survive their first adventure to become proper heroes! It's chaotic, hilarious, and surprisingly deep.
