Ali and I sat down to share our story of working together in labor and delivery, the loss of her newborn daughter Alex, and how years later I traveled across the country so she could be part of Zeke’s birth. It is a beautiful story of how grief and loss connect us and the importance of having a provider who can walk through the fire with you. Zeke’s story is, in part, as sacred as it is because of Ali.

I truly believe that anyone caring for families in birth needs to listen to this interview because there is so much you can learn from this amazing human.

It was such an honor to sit down with the women at Intentional Birth and share Zeke's story as part of their upcoming series, Supporting Perinatal Loss. In Part 1, I walk through the intimate journey of our time with Zeke, from diagnosis to our final moments with him. In Part 2, I’m joined by my dear friend Dr. Ali Lewis. We dive into the story of working alongside each other in birth, the loss of her daughter, how our lives became inextricably linked through grief, and the lessons we learned along the way. It is a powerful and raw look at how friendship and care transform in the face of loss. If you work with birthing families in any capacity, you need to tune in to this series because we need more advocates in perinatal loss. .birth

I was so honored to get to create this mug for Kristin of .doula.life (who does amazing work in the loss mom community) in honor of her sweet babies. The bouquet of flowers is morning glory and lily of the valley, to represent their birth months. Kristin shared that she connects with her babies through the pink skies, so the body of the mug became a sunset with clouds. A whisper of hello. I love hearing all of the symbolism that parents have to connect with their babies.

Historically, I haven’t taken on custom projects very often, but I have a small window where I may be able to take a few requests. I am especially inclined to work on loss-related pieces, as they help me connect with Zeke. If you are looking for a custom piece, you can find the request form on my website. It glows! 😍 This is a super fancy translucent porcelain clay. It's not the easiest to work with, but it sure is worth it! So many loss moms light a candle as part of their ritual to honor their baby. This piece feels so perfect for that. This one will be in the shop restock on Wednesday, and there are a few more of this design in the works for the future (and for me).

The story behind the "With love, from Zeke" line. I love that my sweet boy's story is woven into my art. I love that people will drink from my mugs and think of both their angel babies and mine.
