Blee Dream It Create It We lose ourselves in the things we love. We find ourselves there too. Sharing inspiration and life creatively through Gardening! Writing! Painting! Journaling!

I have developed a unique painting style -- it is painted furniture yet in a style unique to me....no piece is alike - no color the same --the furniture has character! Don't expect it to perfectly smooth or without a few marks -- but do expect to be created with love and hard work -- giving it that style of it's own.. .What started as a hobby I loved has expanded into sharing with others who love

old created new... who love reusing objects in a form of art...who love creating new pieces from parts of old...it truly is a form of saving nature...and those who know me know my love of nature. Please NOTE -- I travel to Jacksonville, Florida and Springfield, Missouri often -- if you see something you like -- we can work out delivery -- eventually I hope to have a place to sell in both locations as well as the Quad Cities

I love looking around my home and remembering where everything came from. Some things were passed down, some were found on little adventures, and others simply spoke to my heart along the way. Nothing has to match perfectly because, together, it all tells the story of where I’ve been, what I love, and the beautiful little life I’ve gathered piece by piece. ☕️❤️🏡

A little Blee Book update…

I met with a friend yesterday who had ordered my Blee Book. She wanted to meet and talk about the book—especially the reflective questions after each essay, which she loves. She repeatedly told me, “Everyone needs a copy of this book.”

I almost didn’t go. I had spent so much of the past few days wrapped in worry.

But when she opened the door, the beautiful smile on her face brought one to my worried soul.

Her world has become a little smaller these days as she navigates health, aging, and changes that are hers to tell. Getting out isn’t easy for her.

I could have stayed home with my worry. Instead, somehow, she gave me some of the hope she was looking for too.

Our conversation brought us back to slowing down, letting the heart breathe, and noticing the little things.

The very things I had written about, she was reminding me of.

Now, as I get ready to place another book order, I thought I’d share a gentle reminder.

Selling what I create is hard for me. Sharing it comes much easier. 😊 So this is meant to be a gentle reminder, not a push. I am already so grateful.

I order mostly by demand, with just a few extras, so if you’ve been thinking about getting a copy, send me a message and I’ll include one for you in this next order.

They also make such meaningful gifts—for birthdays, friendship, encouragement, or just because.

And I know it feels early to say it, but the holidays really are coming.

Each book post comes with a different little peek inside. 😊 Just enough to give you a feel for what you’ll find among the pages.

I am so grateful for every person who has read it, shared it, gifted it, or simply encouraged me along the way.

Do what you love. If only to dream a bit. Because dreams can become reality.

Look who is home! ❤️

She spent the weekend at the animal hospital.

My Princess girl is home.

She is still not completely out of the woods. Her paws are reddish-purple, and we have now learned she has plasma cell pododermatitis — “pillow foot” — a rare immune-mediated condition.

The hospital said the next step is an animal dermatologist. I have called. The soonest appointment I could get is the end of September. The receptionist was incredibly kind and, without me even having to explain much, understood that Princess really needs to be seen sooner rather than later. We are hoping something opens up.

I am sharing some of this because maybe someone reading has experienced this condition.

Nothing about what happened over the last couple of weeks can be proven to have caused anything. I know that.

But…

Princess went in for a biopsy.

I struggled with that decision from the beginning.

There was the car ride, the stress, the procedure, the anesthesia.

She came home sick.

She developed a fever and refused to eat.

Within days, my beautiful, active girl looked like death.

During that time there were many calls to the vet and several trips back. She was treated for pancreatitis, but later, at the emergency animal hospital, testing did not support pancreatitis.

And I wrestled terribly with all of it.

In the past, I have chosen not to put my animals through extensive testing and procedures. I have always felt that they come from the natural world, and there is a point where I believe I need to allow nature to take its course.

Those are my beliefs.

They are not a judgment of anyone else or the choices they make for the animals they love. We each have to make those decisions from our own hearts.

But because Princess became so terribly sick after that first procedure, I felt responsible. I could not sit home and watch this incredibly active little soul disappear before my eyes.

So I took her to the hospital.

And for a while, she still didn’t respond.

Then finally her fever broke.

And she ate.

❤️

Last night she slept such a deep, peaceful sleep in her favorite place.

And so did I.

And, of course, poor R***r is wondering when life will start revolving around him again. 😉 He hasn’t exactly been getting his usual amount of attention.

Thank you all so much for the messages, the prayers, the love and the understanding. I have felt every bit of it.

And don’t even ask what all of this has cost…

My plans for a physical home of my own may have to wait awhile.

But right now?

I don’t even care.

She is home.

We slept peacefully last night.

And at this moment, that feels like home to me.

If anyone has experience with plasma cell pododermatitis, knows a veterinarian or veterinary dermatologist familiar with it, or knows of something gentle I might be able to do at home to make her more comfortable, please let me know.

For now, I carry her when she needs to go somewhere.

And honestly, that part isn’t all bad. 😉

Her cuddles are pretty amazing.

If only love could be enough.

If only…

My Princess girl is dying.

I put her through a biopsy.

I should have stayed true to what I believe—that our animals are from the natural world, and while we try so hard to make them human by putting them through tests and procedures they do not understand…

I do not believe we should.

And yet I agreed to it.

I just feel she would not be this sick if I had not put her through all of that.

The biopsy came back clean.

And now I wonder why I needed to know one way or another.

I did not need an answer to love her any differently.

I love my animals, my family, my people every single day.
I do not take them for granted.

I do not need to know an end time in order to love completely.

So now.

I just hold her.

When I have said Princess and R***r are my home, it is because they are.

So many things in life have brought me to the next place.
They have always been my constant.

They have loved me unconditionally, even during times I did not deserve that kind of love.

We all are who we are.
We all have losses.
We all deal with them in different ways.

I know there are those around me grieving a mother, a husband, a brother, a person they have loved deeply. I would never compare one loss to another or take anything away from their grief.

Loss is personal.
Love is personal.
And the ache that follows belongs to each of us in its own way.

The doctor recently told me my heart was strong.

I was shocked.

It must be very good gorilla glue holding together all of its cracks.

This time, though…

My soul is just so tired.

I hold her and wish I could undo the choice I made.

I wish love could heal what hurts.

If only love could be enough.

If only.

The following are words I shared recently at a women’s luncheon.

Though I am so nervous speaking in front of people, I did it anyway.

I feel it is important to speak your truth — to say the words yourself when they come from your heart.

This was an honor, and I am so thankful I was asked.

“I am going to refer to my notes today because I’m much more comfortable writing than speaking.

Through writing, I am able to slow down, gather my thoughts, and express what is in my heart.

My book is called The Blee Book: Reflections from a Gardener’s Heart on Life, Nature, and the Creative Spirit.

When I was asked to speak today around the theme “Bloom Where You Are Planted,” I smiled, because so much of what I write comes from the garden.

The other morning, as I sat on the lanai thinking about those words, my fur babies, Princess and R***r, were close by, as they so often are.

I thought about what they have taught me about home.

Life has offered me many paths. Sometimes the hardest choice has turned out to be the right one. Through every move and every change, Princess and R***r have moved with me — never questioning, just going wherever life took us.

And through that, they have shown me that home is not always a place.

Home is where love is.

With each move, I plant myself and a garden.

In some places, I have bloomed.

In others, I have simply survived.

Every place has offered me something. Growth. Family. Friendships. Lessons. And a little more understanding of what it means to belong.

I think flowers are much the same.

They open their petals toward the sun, are struck by heavy rain, and bent by strong winds.

Still, when the storm passes, they reach toward the sun again.

Maybe that is what blooming where we are planted really means.

Not that every place will be perfect.

Not that every season will be easy.

That we continue to reach for the sun.

We withstand the storms.

We grow where we can.

And we bloom where we are planted — whether it is for a moment, a season, or a lifetime.

That is what my book is about.

Those ordinary moments of life.

The struggles.

The growth.

Our family.

Our friendships.

The beauty we almost miss.

And the willingness, again and again, to reach for the sun and bloom where we are planted.

Thank you for letting me share my heart with you today.”

Do what you love. If only to dream a bit. Because dreams can become reality.

Deep in thought this morning.

Knowing that asking for clarity did not create the fracture.

Knowing I could be better, yet knowing I do the best I can in the moment I am given.

I have thought of that last statement often.

Some people believe they have always done their best because what they did was simply the best.

I see it differently.

I think we do the best we can within our circumstances — emotionally or logically — while still recognizing later that perhaps we could have done better.

Wow — that is a deep one today.

In these moments, I find myself drawn to the tree.

I feel its bark.
I embrace its steadiness.

No doubt seems to live beneath its weathered bark.

No wondering, did I fail?

It simply offers strength.
It offers shelter.

It reaches for the sun and sways beneath the wind.

Still, it remains.

Even when a storm fractures a limb, the tree can survive.
It can keep reaching.
Keep growing.

Do you think, somehow, its roots could reach into my soul
and remind me that I, too, have strength, steadiness, and endurance?

That a decision made was right for that moment.

And maybe realizing later that it could have been better
is the growth needed to extend a stronger root.

Is this the gift of the mind —
to question, to reflect, to grow —
versus the gift of simply living?
