Not to ‘harp’ on about it (2 harps in fact), but I do rather enjoy giving old uprights a deep clean. This prevents dust kicking up into the player’s lungs while the piano is being played and improves the string tone etc. I fairly often find that I may have be the first or perhaps second person to ever open it up and take the keys off for a clean. A generational clean is satisfying! Here’s a photo from a cleaning in progress on the Randolph Senior Center’s fun piano!

An unexpected note from a client after servicing her family’s old Ivers & Pond:

“I cannot thank you enough for the service you provided yesterday. Both in the service of the piano itself, but also in the care (and tolerance) you showed to my curious kids, and the flexibility in payment. I sat down and played for just a short time after you left, but it literally made me cry tears of happiness to have my old friend back in an enjoyably playable state. Music has always been a part of my life, as I started playing the piano at age 5, and I hadn’t realized how much I had missed the outlet. It reconnected me to both an emotional and cognitive benefit that had been missing for some time — my girls have never heard me truly play music other than to tinker around here and there, mostly in jest. Last night was the first time they heard me play.

Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart — it was more than the piano who got a tune-up yesterday. “
