Opening night at Stowe Cinema saw internationally-established and Oscar-winning filmmakers mingling with guests and Stowe Story Labs attendees. After a resounding welcome and delicious appetizers, Ellie Foumbi’s Our Father, The Devil began rolling (2023 Independent Spirit Award Nominee, selected for funding by Venice Biennale-College). After the screening, Stowe Story Labs Founder David Rocchio dove deeper into the story and making of the film with Ellie.

That’s a wrap! THANK YOU to our wonderful community and new friends that made our festival possible. We could not have done it without the tremendous talent of visiting artists, filmmakers, and musicians, partners and sponsors, staff, volunteers, and art-loving guests.

The 2023 Vermont Film + Music Festival brought hundreds of Vermonters and visiting audiences together to enjoy stories from a diverse mix of southern, black, Irish, Australian, African, British, and Oscar-winning filmmakers. As the films rolled at Stowe Cinema 3-Plex Projection Room & Lounge, we presented seven musical acts at Stowe Cider: Maple Run Band, Eames Brothers Band, Ali McGuirk, Kat Wright, Tristen, Samantha Crain, and Dwight + Nicole.

We invite you to follow along our feed over the next couple of days as we relive our special event. Thank you to Stowe Cinema, Stowe Cider, Shakedown Stowe, Ben Collins, and Jesse Schloff for memorializing the magic.

We are proud to partner with Nyx Horror Collective, a group of diverse women-identifying horror creators who develop, celebrate, and elevate original, women-led horror content. Three of the Nyx Horror Collective Founders join us for a screening of award-winning 13 Minutes of Horror, a series of 13, one-minute narrative shorts from women-identifying horror filmmakers, inclusive of BIPOC women, LGTBQ+ women, disabled women, and non-binary creators. Screening followed by a discussion with the filmmakers.

"Like the goddess who serves as our namesake, we do not fear the darkness, but embrace it, recognizing that we cannot know the light without first knowing the dark." - Nyx Horror Collective

We are proud to welcome Boston-based singer-songwriter Ali McGuirk to Stowe Cider June 3. Blending classic soul power with a folk songwriter lyricism, Ali has the rare ability to silence a room with just a few words of a song. With a voice that is raw and sultry and a style rooted in improvisation, her sets are a hypnotic and intimate journey.
