Story Theater

Story Theater Built in 1913, the Story Theater is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Todd Thorson has operated the historic Story Theater Grand Opera House since December of 1983, taking over the theater operations from Dick and Virgil Peterson. The Petersons came to Story City, along with their parents in 1946, and ran the theater for 37 years. Thorson is now in his 41st year operating the theater business, to go along with the 111 year anniversary of the historic opera house. Th

e Story Theater has the distinction of being one of the oldest continually running theaters in Iowa as well as the country, having never closed its doors in its 111 years of existence. The Story Theater is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Disney's new release Toy Story 5 will be held over at the historic Story Theater in Story City IA on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, June 26, 27, 28.

Showtimes are Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m., with special matinees on Saturday at 4:45 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 and 4:45 p.m. (No Sunday night show.)

Admission is only $5 (cash or check only, no credit cards) and the film is rated PG. For more info call 515/733-4551.
