Story City Antique Carousel A 1913 hand-carved wooden carousel which operates late spring through early fall in Story City's picturesque North Park.

For the safety of our beloved carousel, staff, and riders, the Story City Antique Carousel will close when the heat index exceeds 100°F or if lighting is present in the area. High heat and storms can place stress on both people and machinery. This proa

ctive closure helps us protect the integrity of the historic carousel and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all on future visits.

🌤 Please stay tuned to our page for real-time updates and reopening announcements. Your safety (and a cool, safe spin!) is always our priority. COST:
$1.00 for one ride ticket – all riders ages 2-to-adult need a ticket to ride
$5.00 for six tickets – save almost 17% per ride
$15.00 for a 20-ride punch card – save 25% per ride; for sale at carousel (when open) or GCC office (524 Broad Street; M-Th 10am-4pm)

Story City Greater Chamber Connection, a Main Street Partner was excited to host the Discover Ames Attractions Council as we talked all things TikTok, tourism, and telling the stories of our region!

A HUGE thank you to 607 Guest House for creating such a fun TikTok featuring our beloved Story City Antique Carousel! We love seeing our local businesses and attractions work together to showcase what makes our region such a special place to visit.

And now that school is back in session, the Carousel is open Saturdays & Sundays through the end of September from 1–4 PM!

Rhonda Ostrem has been involved with Story City Chamber Main Street for many years, and we are so grateful for the love she continues to pour into our community. One of Rhonda’s favorite places to support is our beautiful Story City Antique Carousel in North Park.

She has been keeping the flower beds looking absolutely AMAZING and last night, several of us found ourselves counting just how many different “visitors” were enjoying those flowers!

One of our weekly Carousel riders said she counted 11 different visitors! Here are just a few of the beautiful friends we spotted.

Next time you visit the Carousel, make sure you take a peek at the flower beds and see how many you can find! 🌸🦋🐝

☀️🥵 The Iowa heat is winning this round! 🎠

For the safety of our guests, staff, volunteers, and our 113-year-old Story City Antique Carousel, we will be CLOSED Monday, July 27 due to the dangerous heat index.

Stay cool, stay hydrated, and we'll be ready to spin again soon!
