Friday Feature: Faces Behind the Gallery ✨

Meet Sue Mesenbrink — our dedicated board member and treasurer, local business owner, and talented artist.

A lifelong resident of Storm Lake, Sue has been an important part of the Witter Gallery board for many years. She enjoys working in pastels, acrylic, and watercolor, often drawing inspiration from the beauty of the lake and the surrounding community. Sue exhibited her work at the gallery in 2024 and also participates in the Artisan Road Trip each October.

Sue shares, “To have a local art gallery is wonderful for a town of our size. We are so fortunate that artist Ella Witter had the vision to make it happen so many years ago. I look forward to continuing to help the gallery grow and, in turn, help our community grow.”

We’re truly grateful for Sue’s dedication, creativity, and the care she brings to supporting the gallery behind the scenes. Her passion helps keep our mission strong and our community connected. 💫

✨Beyond the Beacon✨: Gigi Nelson

For Gigi Nelson, Storm Lake is a living legacy.

Inspired by the Living Heritage Tree Museum, her lighthouse, Viva Legatum, reflects the beauty of growth, connection, and the passage of time. From the sun and planets above to the trees and earth below, each detail tells the story of a community that continues to grow and evolve.

Through her work, Gigi reminds us that Storm Lake is more than a place, it is a shared story, shaped by history, nature, and the generations who leave their mark here.
