My fused glass sculpture, “Garden Visitors”, has been accepted into the Phillips’ Mill 97th Juried Art Show in New Hope, Pennsylvania!

This two-sided, dimensional botanical sculpture brings together some of my favorite garden visitors—poppies and wildflowers, bees, a butterfly, and a tiny hummingbird—all created in layers of fused glass.

Phillips’ Mill, known as the birthplace of Pennsylvania Impressionism, has a long tradition of showcasing exceptional fine art selected by a distinguished panel of jurors. I’m truly delighted to have my glasswork included in this year’s exhibition.

Something New for
WheatonArts
Festival of Fine Crafts!

I’ve been busy in the studio getting ready for next weekend’s Festival of Fine Craft at WheatonArts, and this new fused glass garden piece will be coming with me!

Queen Anne’s lace, unfurling ferns and a few busy bees come together in this one-of-a-kind piece. It’s one of several new works I’m looking forward to sharing at the show.

With more than 150 juried artists and craftspeople, it’s a wonderful weekend to enjoy art, shop handmade, and perhaps find something special to take home. I’ll be bringing lots of my fused and stained glass—including botanical pieces, candleholders, boxes, and some new work fresh from the studio.

A Garden Through the Seasons
Created as a large commissioned window, this piece brings together many of my favorite subjects from the natural world in a patchwork of fused glass. Individual panels feature poppies, lupine, coneflowers, violets, dogwood, mushrooms, birds, butterflies, bees, fish and other small discoveries from the garden and landscape.
Each botanical and wildlife detail was created with glass powders and frit, kiln-fired, then composed into its own little scene. The individual fused-glass panels were joined using the copper-foil stained glass technique, creating one large window that feels almost like a quilt made of glass.
I especially love how every section tells its own small story, yet together they become a celebration of nature throughout the seasons. Installed in its wooden frame and illuminated by natural light, the colors, textures and tiny details continually change throughout the day.
This was truly a labor of love—and one of those commissions where I could bring so many different parts of my glasswork together in one piece. fusedglassart

I recently finished this special commission and thought you might enjoy seeing it before it heads to its new home in North Carolina. Designed for an entryway, this stained glass panel brings together flowering dogwood branches, cheerful goldfinches and bluebirds against a beautiful blue sky. I especially love imagining the sunlight coming through all those colors welcoming everyone who walks through the door!
