DOGS IN ART!

Our first two weeks of Art & Animals afterschool were all about dogs! From meeting some real-life canine friends with a special visit from Le Petit Ranch to looking at the many ways artists have portrayed dogs, we explored what makes each one unique—and then created our own playful dog portraits.

Crowns, capes, colorful patterns, wild hairstyles, and plenty of personality made their way into the artwork.

And now for our next furry featured animal... 👀🐾

Thank you to the Sheffield Senior Center for welcoming us last week for a morning of fiber fun!

Participants explored both wet felting and needle felting, working with colorful wool roving to create their own felted landscapes. And wow, what beautiful art they made!

A wonderful Saturday afternoon of making and celebrating the bride-to-be with a lovely group of friends.

This Embroidered Art Cards Art Party brought everyone around the table to collage, stitch, and connect while making whimsical, one-of-a-kind cards to take home. 💕

Sometimes inspiration has fluffy fleece. 🐑

This fall, our artists will explore the many ways animals have inspired artists, storytellers, and makers throughout history in our weekly afterschool programs.

We’ll encounter animals in all kinds of ways—from sheep, chickens, guinea pigs, and horses with visits from Le Petit Ranch, to animals we discover through stories, art, and art history. We’ll observe their shapes, textures, movements, and personalities, then bring those observations into our own artwork.

Along the way, we’ll experiment with different materials and techniques, make connections between the natural world and art, and follow our curiosity wherever it leads.

Sometimes inspiration has soft fur and small ears.🐹

We’re looking forward to more animal-inspired making this fall, with afterschool programs in collaboration with Le Petit Ranch. From guinea pigs to sheep to horses, we’ll observe the animals, notice their unique qualities, and discover the many ways artists around the world have connected animals, nature, and imagination.

We invite young artists (and animal lovers!) to join us this fall to experiment, try new techniques, and follow their creative ideas wherever they may roam. 🐾

Sometimes inspiration has feathers, beaks, and wings. 🐓

This fall, it will come in the form of chickens (plus sheep, dogs, donkeys, and more!) We’re collaborating with Le Petit Ranch to bring kids an afterschool art experience that connects us with the animal world.

Being around animals invites kids to slow down, observe, wonder, and connect — all wonderful starting points for artmaking and imaginative exploration.

Join us for afternoons filled with fun, playful artmaking, and friends.
