I’m doing a new thing! I’m starting a creative reuse organization here in Steubenville. I’m excited to share more about it and I would be honored if you followed along there! I’ll still post here as well — hopefully even more as I dive more deeply into a more intentionally creative life.
2023 is gonna be an interesting year 😅😁

“It looks like the inverse of 90’s movie theater carpet and I mean that in the best and most glowing way possible.”
When your friend’s description of your pattern is so accurate you snort 😆.
I love the mixture of order and chaos in this pattern; I relate to it on a personal level 💃🏻.
So if you need me I’ll just be over here, still obsessed with making half-drop patterns 🙃. I made all of the stamp brushes for this one, too! It’s a mixture of what I call dynamic stamps, which change size and opacity with pressure, and just straight up solid stamps. Did you know you can duplicate the “drip” brush in procreate and then change the shape to make a super easy stamp brush? Just be careful…you might end up making three in one morning and then spending too much time making an awesome pattern that takes your friends back to the 90’s…not that I would know anything about that 💁🏻‍♀️.

Routine boards!
I’ll never claim to be a parenting expert, but these things are great and I haven’t seen anything quite like them, which is why I had to come up with them and make them myself. My son is four and we use them almost every day. As an ADHD household, it’s so important for us to build and maintain routines. I want to set him up for a lifetime of caring for himself in a way that makes sense for his brain. Plus, these were really easy to make! Read on for instructions ❤️

You’ll need:
Foam board, pipe cleaners, beads, printed out icons (I got mine from a paid Canva acct but there’s free sites like iconify you can find them), labels, and contact paper if desired

The steps:
1. Choose your routine activities, then find, resize if necessary, and print icons and labels (if I do this over, I’ll use numbers for the steps too)
3. Space them out and glue them down, figure out where the pipe cleaners will go and mark the holes, do your check marks
4. If you want to use contact paper to make it more durable, put that on now (I will the next time I make these)
5. Poke holes for the pipe cleaners
6. Thread them through, making sure there’s enough for the bead to slide easily. If you have more than 1 kid, you can use multiple beads or more pipe cleaners with one bead each so you only have to make one board each for AM and PM (if they have the sayme steps). I cut my pipe cleaners so there wasn’t too much excess on the back of the board and twisted them so they wouldn’t come out
3. Duct tape the pipe cleaners on the back — that way they can’t pull them out or take them off
5. Celebrate your badassery!!

Ways to customize: use colorful beads and pipe cleaners, use a different size or color of foam board, make your pictures more realistic or even use photos of your kid(s) doing the steps, use fun shapes for the beads

If you make these PLEASE tag me; I would love to see them!

I have found, beloved,
That what we have been told
Is not true.
I have found that even hairy-legged
With soft, striped skin
And breasts that rest when we lie down
We can be — should be —
Desired.

I’ve been going through a reframing lately. I’ve been thinking about my body and how things I’ve been taught to see as flaws are actually beautiful. I’ve come to realize that the stripes on my belly are lovely. They’re shimmery and the prettiest shade of deep lilac. And they’re proof that I’ve loved so deeply that it changed me physically. And what, really, could be more beautiful than that?

Hi friends! As many of you already know, I’ve been diagnosed with ADHD for a fair few years. Unlike many girls and women, who are classically under diagnosed, we’ve known about my ADHD since adolescence. The ways I’ve dealt with my executive dysfunction have changed—medication, coping strategies, toughing it out, medication again—but one thing stays the same: my brain is a gift from God and I love it. Even when it sabotages me 😅. ANYWAY, all that to say, ADHD means often I’ll get REALLY into a hobby and then drop it when the dopamine slows down. Which is what happens with lettering and design sometimes. And that’s okay. I’m grateful you’re still around to see the things I make, even when I’m inconsistent or absent or spam your feed with three posts in one day 😂. Thanks for sharing these squares with me.
Oh, and for my neurodivergent peeps, I see you, you’re welcome here, and let’s be friends (read: info-dump about current hobbies, overshare trauma, and forget we made plans 🙃).

It’s ok to be annoyed by this phrase. Sometimes it’s hard or even impossible to choose joy. But mostly, in our everyday bustle, we’re presented with opportunities over and over to choose joy. I guess it matters where your joy comes from…if it depends on circumstances it tends to be fleeting. Believe me, I’ve been there and still go back to visit too often. But when my joy is rooted in Christ—when the source of my joy is the essence of true happiness—circumstances matter less.
There’s a story of St. Thérèse of Lisieux feeling annoyed that one of her sisters at the Carmel would accidentally splash her with water when they did dishes together. But Thérèse realized that every time she was splashed with dirty water she could offer it up to God as a sacrifice. After that, she specifically requested to wash dishes with that sister and would feel joy whenever she was splashed.
Maybe we can take our cue from her. Maybe we can choose joy. And if you see me around in my jacket, I hope you’re not annoyed with me 😅.
I used my new frixion pens to sketch this design. Frixion pens are great because they disappear when you iron your fabric, so they’re erasable. Then I went over my design with my new BFF, the fabric pen. I’m in LOVE with how it came out!

Buckle up for some hopefully comprehensible Theology of the Body thoughts!
Recently I had an epiphany. I was thinking about how our physical bodies will be with us in heaven. And how that means that, literally no matter how they look or what level of functioning they have, they are GOOD. My physical body was made to dwell in the essence of beauty. It’s fundamentally compatible with beatitude. It was created for heaven.
On the one hand that means I should be a good steward of it, right? I’m gonna have to show it to God in the end and I want to have done a good job taking care of the gift he gave me.
On the other hand, even if I hand God the bodily equivalent of a poorly-made macaroni necklace, he will absolutely, undoubtedly, without reservation love it beyond measure.
Because it is GOOD. Because it is mine. Because it is his.
We’re all headed for heaven, friends. Every one of us, every part of us. Deo gratias!

Today is the one-year anniversary of my last day of work in an office. It was the day I told my boss I was gonna “work from home for two weeks, out of an abundance of caution, just to flatten to curve.” Life has changed a lot since March 12, 2020. My job, childcare, my husband’s work, our lifestyle, have all shifted in ways large and small. And change is h a r d. Often I forget to give myself (and others) the grace we need to accept change and work toward sanctity in the midst of it. I needed this reminder...maybe you do, too. I’m hedging my bets (hey, I’m human), but may we get through today with grace, and may our tomorrows be a little bit brighter.

Life has been kind of insane lately. My position at my job moved back to freelance, our childcare fell through, and we’re all just sort of in survival mode — like, more than the normal amount. Which is saying something. So I made this reminder for myself. I know it’s nothing fancy, but I made it my Lock Screen so my words-of-affirmation-motivated self can see it and remind myself: I’ve gotten through tough times before, and we’ll get through these tough times too. Because I can do hard things. And so can you ❤️.
