This is crazy weather!

Good morning Interior Alaska! The long-awaited chinook is upon us. Record high temps will likely fall today at Fairbanks International, with the current record being 39 degrees. 🔥There is a chance we push into the mid 40s. Our current temperature this morning is about the same as Jacksonville, Florida.

Delta Junction has already reached 46 degrees this morning and will likely push into the 50s. Eielson AFB is already 42 at 3 AM. Winds of 80 mph are already blasting through the AK Range.

This rather ominous looking satellite image says a lot. This large and impressive storm stretches deep into the North Pacific to near Hawaii.

BTW, see the gap in the satellite image south of Fairbanks? That is called a mountain wave, indicative of a powerful chinook. Severe turbulence has been reported near the Alaska Range.
