Work in progress on my entry into the Capital Palette painting competition at NoVA Open at the end of the month.

I primed black, base coated purple, layered on a cold yellow, then hit some areas with a thinned down magenta to give the skin some warmth.

I am thinking of doing a dark brownish red for the body with maybe gray or bone color for the armored spine.

I wrapped up gap filling this Creature Caster resin model and got it primed. I used AK interactive black airbrush primer instead of a rattle can and had a bad time with it. Even thinning it down with medium it was rough coming out of the airbrush!

Need to get this ready for Capital Palette at NoVA Open at the end of the month!

Cutting and building my Capital Palette entry for Nova Open. Big resin Draco from Creature Caster. Building has always been my weak suit and I have not done it in a long time, but I am taking my time scraping mold lines and filing everything down so it looks as clean as possible before paint.

Working on painting my second Eldritch Runestone terrain set. This time I tried something new with black light and UV reactive paint to give it a glow in the dark effect. I think it turned out pretty cool!

I used the translucent nature of the paint to create kind of an OSL glow on the runestones. Under normal light it looks good. Then when you put the black light on it it really glows. I have not seen anything like it before!

Let me know what you think in the comments or what I should change.

I just wrapped up the base coat on this Castle‑Grayskull‑style terrain piece. I laid down a dark brown over the whole thing, which will act as the mid‑tone for the brick reds on the castle walls and the grays for the stone. I’m planning to apply the next layers with a sponge or some other textured tool so that brown can show through in the recesses. After that, I’ll go in and paint the darker shadows by hand.

I’m continuing the outdoor painting session. I just finished highlighting this Castle‑Grayskull‑themed terrain piece after a zenithal prime. Black rattle can first, then white from above, and I pushed a few spots brighter to exaggerate the underpainting. We’ll see how much of that shows through once I start layering color. I’ll be painting the whole thing by hand with a brush, using straight craft acrylics.
