Work in progress on another piece in my lava-themed Cursed Lands 3d printed terrain set! I like how the lava turned out this time, but need to figure out where to place my highest highlights.

I was not happy with how I did the highlights on the last lava skull. Always learning!

This is a sequential time‑lapse of a project I wrapped up: a 3D‑printed mushroom‑bearing skull dice tower that had been sitting on my painting desk forever. I wanted something quick and creative, so I finally painted it. I used Army Painter airbrush colors, and their color‑triad system made it easy to pick highs, mids, and lows for the bone and for the mushroom caps. The red variations are subtle, but in person the whole piece looks really good.

I just wrapped up the first piece in the Cursed Lands terrain set I’m painting in a lava theme. Over a zenithal base, I laid down black and then built up a few shades of ProAcryl gray for the rock texture. For the lava, I airbrushed white into the recesses, then layered orange, yellow, a watered‑down red, and some browns. After that, I painted in the shadows with a thinned black to pull the contrast back together. Moving on to the rest of the set, I’m sticking with the same lava approach, and I think it’s going to look fantastic on your tabletop.

Here’s a work‑in‑progress on the Cursed Lands terrain set. I’m pushing a full lava motif for this one. I started by painting the rocks a dark obsidian tone, then hit the recesses with white before layering orange and yellow inks for a lava glow.

Looking for feedback on next steps — especially getting the skull to stand out more.

Tonight I’m painting a mini for the first time in a while. I’m doing it with the airbrush to practice my accuracy.

I blocked in colors and highlights and tried out a couple of Turbo Dork paints. It’s good to switch it up from painting terrain every once in a while!

I just finished priming my next terrain set painting project. It is the Cursed Lands set by Txarli Factory.

I'm trying to decide what color scheme I want to go for. I was thinking maybe a poisonous green or some sort of eldritch purple, but I've painted a lot of that recently. Maybe go for a lava theme with something red and orange? If there is a type of theme that you would like to see let me know in the comments and maybe I'll do it!

WIP shots of the orcish Mount Rushmore.
PLA print from Txarli Factory, primed black/white for a zenithal base.
Painted with Liquitex inks and Pro Acryl to build the greens and stone texture.
Question of the day: Mount Rushmork or Mount Rushgork?

WIP update on the orcish monument.
Bright Ivory dry brush across the raised edges to bring out the forms.
Next up: unify a few colors and refine some highlights.
Getting close to wrapping this piece.

WIP on the orcish Mount Rushmore.
Laid down a matte varnish layer to protect the work before dry brushing.
Next up is a white dry brush across the raised areas and hard edges.
Call to action: what color should this orc’s eyepatch be—blue, orange, red?

First highlight pass on the orcs is in.
Titanium white pre‑highlight, then a lime green Liquitex ink filter thinned with speed paint medium.
Next step is adding burnt umber shadows before moving on to the rocks.
And yes—this is a different green than the one I spilled last time. No chaos today.
