Don’t miss meeting SOA artist Frank Hyldahl and seeing his work in Shared Vistas: A Celebration of the American Landscape exhibition, at the Staunton Augusta Art Center this friday 5-8pm, along with several other exciting exhibitions. Frank, together with Dawn Shiner will host a special pop-up featuring Tree Rings, innovative wearable Art rooted in permaculture and ecological design. Grown directly on living tree branches through a careful self-grafting process, these rings are sustainably harvested by pruning without harming the trees, then hand-carved and finished with natural, food-safe waxes and oils for exceptional durability and water-friendly wear. Each ring is a one-of-a-kind collaboration between human and tree, revealing unique growth patterns and embodying strength, resilience, and care. Both functional jewelry and living sculpture, Tree Rings reflect a deep connection to the land and offer a meaningful way to mark commitments, relationships, and moments of significance, resonating with the exhibition’s exploration of landscape and our relationship to the natural world.
