Darren’s untitled sculpture, informally referred to as Stacked Piece 1, marks an important transitional moment within his practice. Comprised of four individual forms, the work measures approximately 12 inches at its widest point and stands 40 inches tall.

Conceived both as a finished sculpture and as a working model, the piece serves as the foundation for a much larger work Darren will begin in the coming weeks — the most ambitious scale he has explored to date. Through the process of constructing and balancing these stacked forms, he investigates the structural, visual, and conceptual tensions that will shape the next phase of his work.

Join us on April 18 from 4–7 PM for a hands-on exploration of sgraffito — a beautiful carving technique that reveals layers of clay through line, texture, and contrast.

This workshop is all about slowing down, working with your hands, and discovering how surface can become a space for drawing. Whether you’re new to ceramics or already working with clay, it’s a chance to try something expressive and a little meditative. Printmakers will feel right at home, rooted in the same language of carving, line, and layered reveal.

Today we’re sharing a very special video honoring our member Fabio, who has been part of the Silk Road Ceramics community for the past two years.

Over the past two years, we’ve watched his work grow through sustained attention and repetition, each piece marking a new chapter in an ongoing process of healing.
