I met Doug Principato at last year's Maker Park Radio Record Fair, where he gave me a copy of the upcoming album from his band, Grand Pepper Of Reality, and hoped that I would like it enough to play a song or two on my show. I did, and after each time it appeared on my playlist, he always reposted it and expressed his thanks. A few months later, I was fortunate enough to interview him and the band on the 100th episode of RAW Music Urban Sessions. (That's him with his arm around me, posing with his bandmates and our crew.) His personality and passion for music was evident in his enthusiastic response to each question. I saw him last a few months ago, at this year's fair, where he excitedly shared news about the projects he was working on and the new music he'd be sharing with me soon. When I stumbled upon the news of his sudden passing last night, I fell back in my chair, stunned. Lately, it seems, life has been on a mission to remind me of how equally precious and unpredictable it can be. I knew Doug for only a short time, but he made such a positive, lasting impression on me. Rock on, my friend. You'll always have a spot on my playlist.
