Dear State College/Penn State friends,

This is a post I've both dreaded making for months, but with small glimpses of excitement as well. After 9 years as the State Queens show director, my time in State College is coming to a close. At the end of July my partner and I will be relocating to Central New Jersey, as my partner has accepted a position at Princeton University.

My amazing drag kid, Milkshake, will be taking over the hosting. Support her. Tell her she's pretty. She needs to hear that (Lord knows she didn't get comedy from me). Shows will still be happening, I will still be organizing from behind the scenes and will still be your contact. You might even see me return for a few shows.

This Arts Fest will be my last event as a State College local.

I'm excited for what this new chapter will bring, but I'm going to miss the home that's always given me love and community. This surely isn't 'goodbye' . Merely, 'I'll see you soon' 🩷

Now that June is officially here, we at State Queens want to send all of our love out to our incredible community. To our trans, non-binary, and BIPOC family especially; this celebration belongs to you. You are the heartbeat of this movement, the blueprints of our history, and the absolute joy we celebrate today.
​Our stages and performers are getting ready to be your go to for entertainment, and we cannot wait to share our love, pride, and talent with you. No matter where you find yourself this month, remember that you are seen, you are loved, and you always have a home with us.

A reminder that Pride was born as a movement led by trans women of color, and that history dictates how State Queens shows up today within the Commonwealth.

True inclusion requires intention, especially in spaces that can easily become homogenous as we so often see. Our commitment has always been and will always be to actively center and platform trans, non-binary, and BIPOC entertainers.
As the original platform dedicated to uplifting BIPOC and Trans excellence, we believe that Pride programming should be a mirror for the entire community, prioritizing the voices that need to be heard, seen, and celebrated the most. Our work isn't just about entertainment and looking pretty (which, duh! We're stunning); it’s about creating a safe, vibrant space where marginalized individuals are given the stage and platform that is often kept from us in order to ease cis white members of the same exact community.
To everyone in our local community looking for a space that honors that radical, diverse spirit: we see you, and we are building this Pride season specifically with you in mind.

As Pride Month approaches, we wanted to share an update with our community.

This year, you won't find us at the State College Pride festival. While we won't be participating in the event itself, our commitment to creating spaces for LGBTQ+ people to connect, celebrate, and be seen remains as strong as ever.

Over the years, we've been honored to share our work, our performers, and our passion with the State College community. Although our path looks a little different this year, we're excited to continue doing what we've always done: bringing people together and creating meaningful, inclusive drag events.

We'll be hosting our own Pride programming throughout the month and hope you'll join us.

Pride has always been bigger than any one festival, organization, or event. It's a community, a history, and a movement. We're grateful to be part of that story and look forward to celebrating Pride with all of you this year. 🩷
