The Whew Yeahs took Juneteenth back to the 70s with afros, soul, sass, and stories that had the crowd laughing, singing, and reminiscing.
For one day only, these ladies clocked out from talking about workplace drama and clocked in to discuss something equally complicated—LOVE. ❤️
Through music, storytelling, and a whole lot of grown-woman truth, The Whew Yeahs celebrated Juneteenth by honoring one of the greatest expressions of freedom: the freedom to laugh, love, heal, and simply enjoy being together.
Thank you to everyone who sang along, clapped along, and caught the groove with us.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of channeling Ruth and Lena Younger of Lorraine Hansberry’s “A Raisin in the Sun” for an independent study exploring the leading Black man in the theatrical cannon. The past 6 weeks of delving in to these characters and the text were a master class that I did not see coming. Marcus A. Jordan and Wendell Franklin, I thank you for the opportunity to grow as an actress.

The Whew Chile! Black Women Working Project is more than just a stage play. It’s a community with resources to support Black women who have been harmed in the workplace. Our goal is to demonstrate MEASURABLE impact.
