🌱 This , we're thinking about what it really means to build a sustainable future — and who gets left out when we don't.

Did you know? Low-income households spend THREE TIMES more of their income on energy costs than higher-income households. Two in five face "severe energy burden" — spending more than 10% of everything they earn just to heat, cool, and power their home.

Much of that burden comes from living in older housing stock: drafty windows, under-insulated walls, outdated furnaces and water heaters. These aren't luxuries to fix — they're necessities that most families simply can't afford on their own.

That's where SCCLT comes in. We purchase and rehabilitate older homes in State College Borough, upgrading them for energy efficiency — new windows, better insulation, envelope sealing, updated mechanical systems — so that working families can own a home that's healthier, more comfortable, and less costly to run.

Our GreenBuild project even took that vision further, constructing net-zero energy-ready homes to show what truly sustainable affordable housing can look like.

Because everyone deserves a home that's good for their family AND good for the planet. 🏡🌍
