✨✨DAY 2 OF // FRIDAY AT 2PM //
We’re incredibly excited to welcome Dr. Juan Castrillón for a special afternoon presentation as part of Rhoneymeade Fest.
Juan Castrillón (Middle Ear | Oído Medio) is a multimodal cultural anthropologist, ethnomusicologist, musician, filmmaker, and researcher whose work bridges sound, listening, culture, healing practices, and experimental media. His projects have been recognized by the International Council of Traditional Music and the Society for Ethnomusicology, and his work spans Türkiye, Colombia, film, performance, and sound installation.
For this session, Juan will present:
“Eolic Journal and Listening Experiments”
After relocating to Northern Cyprus to teach in a Sound Design Department, Juan began exploring the relationship between his students and the windy landscapes that shape everyday life in their communities. This investigation opened new ways of thinking about musical instruments, sound, place, and listening.
The presentation will share this evolving research and introduce early iterations of Impossible Crossings, a sound installation designed to bring movement, memory, and feeling to a solitary monument celebrating rural life in Northern Cyprus.
If you’re curious about sound, culture, listening, experimental art, ethnomusicology, or simply experiencing the world in new ways this will be the perfect blend ✨
Friday programming at Manny’s begins at 1PM and is completely free as part of Rhoneymeade Fest 2026.✨
