And our last one for today... Lorraina spent some time this summer crafting a new sweater. This is Tulip by Ririko of - a top-down raglan pullover in fingering-weight yarn. If you swipe to the second slide, you'll see the incredible twisted-stitch and lace detail at the sides šŸ˜

Lorraina had us order some Malabrigo Sock in the Reflecting Pool colorway, and its tonal dye style and drape absolutely made this garment Lorraina's favorite that she's ever made. (She also said that she'd absolutely make this again.)

And if you're ever looking for Malabrigo in a yarn or color we don't typically carry, let us know! We may be able to special-order it for you, as long as you (and friends, perhaps?) are willing to purchase a full bag of either 5 or 10 skeins, depending on which yarn it is.

Next up: Cathy just finished some awesome Christmas socks for her grandson. (He's seen them and is very excited about being able to wear them soon!)

The pattern is from the book Knit a Box of Christmas Socks by Julie Anne Lebouthillier - Cathy used three colors of yarns from Schmutzerella Yarns to make these. (Nancy's sparkly DK, Brilliant, is now on our Washington Dyed/Designed/Made shelf; we also have a rainbow of her non-sparkly sock yarn, Dude, in the fingering-weight section!)

It's Friday - we did it! (For those of us with local school-age kids, was that not a real month this week? And aren't we glad we get 3 days to recover this weekend??)

At the shop, that means it's - our mostly-weekly highlight of customer projects completed with shop yarn or shop assistance / classes / lessons.

We're going to start off with this avid machine knitter. She had come into the shop a while back to ask how to join and trim this sweater - Lindsey suggested using a high-contrast color, and this is the final result!

(It was way too warm for her to model this the day she brought it in, but we're looking forward to seeing it again now that the weather has started to cool going towards autumn.)

Ugh. Iā€™m so sorry, folks, but somethingā€™s gotta give this week - itā€™s back-to-school week, Iā€™ve been fighting a near-migraine for 2 days, and Iā€™ve got lessons and classes booked on the other possible dates we could move this to.

So we wonā€™t have After Dark Social Night this month - weā€™ll either catch you on ZoomBaaaa on Monday, Sept. 7, or at our usual time on Tuesday, October 6!

Itā€™s here!! The inaugural issue of Purl Magazine arrived at the shop today, and - appropriately enough - the topic is casting on.

If youā€™re not familiar with the Ply Magazine family of publications, all of their magazines are released quarterly and focus on a deep dive on a specific topic. Next up on , it's a cardigan! Sandra recently finished this stunner. It's an interesting construction that has you pick up the back and front panel from a shoulder panel knitted sideways! We particularly love the multicolored buttons that she chose to finish it off.

Another win - earlier this summer, Kris finished a quick weaving sample for an upcoming weaving project. (Sampling in weaving and spinning is like swatching in knitting and crocheting.)

Kris used a 100% cotton weaving yarn from Ashford Handcrafts in New Zealand - we're anxiously awaiting the restock of Ashford's replacement for their old weaving cotton line!
