Hello AnonyCon Friends!



It is now 2022, and AnonyCon has offered no updates for nearly a year. And I’m sorry about that, because I am…tired. This past year was very difficult, but that hardly excuses my complete lack of communication with you all.



I’m sure you’ve surmised this by now but we will not be having an AnonyCon this January. HOWEVER, that does not mean that AnonyCon 2022 is not happening, it just means it’s not happening right now. 



So looking ahead, here’s what my plan is: 

I am hoping to host a Hot AnonyCon Summer virtual event, most likely in the first weekend of August (exact dates TBD). Depending on a few factors, we may be treating it as a fundraising event for future in-person conventions, or it can just be a mid-year bit of fun, we’ll see. 

I will also be sending out a Very Important Survey in the next few days that I’m calling AnonyCon: Do or Die.

AnonyCon is at a crossroads right now, and it’s important to me to involve the wonderful AnonyCon community in deciding which way we go: the Stamford Sheraton shut down permanently in 2020, the world is still very much in the throes of Covid-19, and this convention runs on monofilament margins (see it’s fun because I’m referencing Shadowrun). As long as this health crisis continues, I do not feel comfortable hosting AnonyCon in person again, and if we do host and nobody shows up AnonyCon will have to close its “doors” permanently so it’s a difficult risk to take. We also have the added difficulty of needing to find a new venue and negotiating a new contract. We need a dedicated hotel coordinator to take on this challenge, which we do not have at the moment. 

The AnonyCon: Do or Die survey is intended to take the temperature of the AnonyCon player base, and find out whom (if anyone) is willing or interested to step up to the role of hotel coordinator, or if people would be satisfied with AnonyCon Virtual continuing indefinitely, as well as some other metrics for deciding AnonyCon’s future. 



So that’s the barebones update on this convention. Thank you all for your patience and understanding about the lack of communication, I will do everything I can to be more up front in the coming months.

Registration has been going smoothly for days now, and some games have started to fill up! If you want to make sure you get to play the games you want, register soon! Admission starts at $2 and ALL ADMISSION FEES go to charity.

Hello friends and gamers,

December is flying by, and that means that AnonyCon Virtual is looming on the horizon. It also means that if you want to get your game on our schedule before players register, the time to do that is running out too.
THANKFULLY, just to make sure everyone who wants to has an opportunity to run a game, we will be extending the deadline for submissions (and the date of registration) just slightly to the middle of the month. That means that instead of Friday the 11th, we will be opening registration and publishing the first game schedule on Tuesday the 15th. You will still be able to submit games until the end of the month, but the best chance for attracting players is to have your game in this week.

Hey there AnonyCon fans!

I wanted to remind you all that game submissions are open, and will remain open until the end of December (though player registration starts on the 11th, so better to get it in by then for first dibs).
I think that this year could be a terrific opportunity for people to either try out something new (a Zoom LARP, a small indie game you've been itching to play, a weird system your friends haven't wanted to play yet) or dust off an old favorite, maybe a game from AnonyCon past that you'd like to put in front of some new faces.

The Time Has Come!

OTHER STUFF:

A Clarification: The game submission form does not have time slots on Monday 1/11. This is because I expect that Monday can be a less structured time for pick-up games, chat on our Discord server, etc.

Player Sign-ups: Players will be able to register and sign-up for games starting on Friday, December 11th. This will be when registration opens and a loose schedule of games we have already received will be available. PLEASE REMEMBER that due to a shortened time frame and other 2020 difficulties, it will likely not be a full schedule at that time as more submissions roll in.

Hello Friends and Gamers!

I am very excited to announce the dates for the upcoming AnonyCon (virtual edition)! After hearing from many of you and deciding on the best options for us, AnonyCon will be taking place:

January 8th-10th, 2021

I know that January feels both like an eternity away and in no time at all, but don't worry. More information including game submissions and registration dates will be available and posted as soon as they are available. Until then, I hope you're as excited as we are to play some games.
