Stafford Regional Choral Society

We promote music and the arts in the greater Fredericksburg area. All events are at St. Peter’s Lutheran unless otherwise noted.

We offer community concerts and scholarships to local high school seniors enrolled in and who wish to continue music. The Society's roots go back to the mid-1990s when a group of singers got together informally led by various directors to prepare for an annual presentation of Handel's Messiah in December of each year. In 1998, Barbara Perry stepped forward to lead the informal group, which came to

gether each year by word of mouth from various local church and community choirs. The 1999 performance saw an increase in the size, technical proficiency, and community attendance at the concert. A group of singers from that group decided to form a more formal governance structure to ensure that the performances would continue and the Stafford Regional Choral Society (SRCS) was formed with Barbara Perry as the founding musical director. With more formal governance, and Barbara's dynamic leadership, the newly formed Choral Society immediately expanded to offer additional concerts throughout the year. Currently, we produce a minimum of 4 free community productions. In January of each year, SRCS holds auditions for scholarships. Local high school seniors (public or home-schooled) who wish to pursue music studies at the college level are invited to apply and audition for these scholarships. Over the years, SRCS has had the privilege of being led by some amazing directors including the witty and fun-loving Jason Michael. Starting in the fall of 2023, Director Anola Douglas joined SRCS bringing her bright and energetic spirit to continue the legacy of SRCS and to increase its impact on the community.

One of the many awesome parts of being in SRCS? Our solo, duet and small group opportunities! If you’re excited about being a part of our choir but would also love some individual performance opportunities, maybe a solo selection is right for you! There’s nothing like watching our choir mates light up the stage while they sing a song they love. We want your choir experience with us to be exactly that…yours!

As we begin another season, we want to extend a warm welcome to all of our new and returning singers!

The Stafford Regional Choral Society is a place where people from all walks of life come together to make music, build friendships and be part of something meaningful. Whether you've sung in choirs for years or you're thinking about joining for the very first time, there is a place for you here.

Our next season, “Together We Sing: A Holiday Celebration + Sing-Along,” begins Sunday, September 20. We meet every Sunday from 6:00–8:00 p.m at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Stafford.

Here's what you need to know:

🎶 High school students through adults are welcome.
🎶 No auditions are required.
🎶 High school students sing free with a paying adult singer.

🎶 Announcing Our 2026–2027 Concert Season! 🎶

This season, we're celebrating something that feels more important than ever: connection.

Music has always had the power to bring people together to create friendships, strengthen communities and remind us that every voice matters. Throughout this season, we'll explore what it means to sing with one another, for one another and because of one another.

✨ December 6 at 11 am + 3 pm - “Together We Sing”

Kick off the holiday season with beloved holiday classics, festive favorites and joyful music that everyone knows and loves. This interactive concert will feature a special audience sing-along, inviting friends, families and neighbors to lift their voices together in celebration. Because the best holiday memories aren't just made by listening…they're made by singing together.

✨ May 16 at 3 pm - “Connected”

As our season comes to an end, we'll celebrate the friendships we've built, the stories we've shared, and the ways music has connected us to one another and to our community. This concert is a reminder that when we sing together, we create something far greater than beautiful music — we create lasting connections.

Whether you've sung with us for years or are joining us for the first time, we invite you to be part of a season that is about more than concerts. Join us this season as we celebrate the music that unites us, the community that supports us and the incredible power of making music together. Our first rehearsal is on September 20 from 6-8 pm at St. Peter’s Lutheran. Registration begins in August!
