"Surface Tension" is an exhibit created by Gustavus seniors who studied art and art history. The show is a culminating moment for those involved — taking them from students to emerging artists and art historians.

This exhibit is available through May 3 at the Hillstrom Museum of Art on the lower level of the Jackson Campus Center.

Tickets are now on sale for Mr. Burns: A Post-Electric Play! The show runs April 23rd-26th in the Anderson Theatre, you can get your tickets at https://tickets.gustavus.edu/

After the end of contemporary America, in a future without power, what survives? Mr. Burns investigates how theatre and storytelling tell us who we are and who we’ve been, explores pop culture’s survival and evolution under stress, and imagines a future for TV’s most enduring family. A darkly comic play with music that the New York Times says “leave[s] you dizzy with the scope and dazzle of its ideas.”

Last week, 23 Gustavus dancers headed to the American College Dance Festival Regional Conference at the University of Minnesota, and they came back with something to celebrate. đź’›

Faculty member Sarah Hauss's piece, Zoom in Zoom Out, was selected for the prestigious GALA presentation through a blind adjudication process. Only 10 works were chosen from 35 across the region. Gustavus was one of only two liberal arts schools represented, alongside universities with full BFA programs.

And then came the People's Choice Award. Both Sarah's work and a student-choreographed trio, aS wE arE, by Betsy Anderson, Lainey Hearne, and Marisa Schmidt were voted in by conference attendees. Gustavus was the ONLY liberal arts college with two pieces recognized.

This year's Winter Olympics posts and broadcasts from Milan have featured the Duomo. The Gustavus Choir performed there in 2023. One of the largest cathedrals in the world, it's difficult to comprehend its size until you see a whole choir standing at its door.

“A performance highlight for me would be singing in the Duomo In Milan on our Europe tour my first year. I can still hear the waves of sound reverberating in that ginormous cathedral.” Eli Spurgeon ’26, Gustavus Choir

“My favorite performance ever was singing in the Duomo in Milan. Sharing our music across cultures and bridging language and cultural gaps through song was incredibly powerful.” —Arianna Bergeron ’26, Gustavus Choir
