A year and a half ago, I set out to obtain my certification as a peer recovery specialist, otherwise know as a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS). On July 8th of this year, after obtain all of the necessary prerequisites, I sat for the exam. On August 10th, I received my certificate, which you see here.

There have been obstacles along the way most definitely, but I am grateful to have found a workplace that has made obtaining this certification both safe and accessible. To think of where I was a year and a half ago (four years sober, mind you) in comparison to where I am now… it’s PROFOUND! I am so grateful and blessed. I do believe it is the Promises that have been making their way into my life. They have done so in a way that has been sometimes quick, and other times painfully slow, but they always do materialize IF I work for them 🙏

Exactly one year ago today, I had FFS (facial feminization surgery). I had been fighting for years to get this surgery and on July 16, 2024, I finally got it.

Since obtaining this surgery, my life has transformed. Granted, there have been other factors that have played a role in my life dramatically changing for the better over the past year, but FFS is indisputably what laid the foundation for everything else to fall into place.

It is such a wonderful thing to wake up every morning to a face that looks and feels right. FFS may appear cosmetic and elective to many, but make no mistake: this surgery was gender affirming, medically necessary, and life-saving.

Don’t get me wrong. Life is still tough, and in unprecedented ways at that. However, having this medical care behind me now has made handling life’s challenges feasible in a way that it was not before. I got to where I needed to be just in the nick of time and for that, I will be forever grateful 🙏
