KEN RUSSELL | IN FOCUS
On the occasion of the restoration and release of the Directorâs Cut of his magnum opus THE DEVILS, join us in celebrating the cinematic legacy of premier provocateur, Ken Russell
âȘïžTHE DEVILS - OCT 15-21
Adapted from a novel by Aldous Huxley, THE DEVILS concerns the moral rot in 17th Century France, where a priestâs protection of the city of Loudun from the corrupt Cardinal Richelieu is undermined by a sexually repressed nunâs accusation of witchcraft. Finally restored to Russellâs full, unexpurgated vision, THE DEVILS is an incendiary work that feels more relevant than ever 55 years after its release.
đTHE LAIR OF THE WHITE WORM - SAT OCT 10 @ 9:30PM
Loosely adapting Bram Stoker, Russell turns the story into an outrageous collision of folk horror, vampirism, pagan ritual, Freudian symbolism, psychedelic visions, monster-movie thrills, and very British black comedy.
đGOTHIC - MON OCT 13 @ 7:00PM
Ken Russell turns the legendary gathering that inspired Mary Shelleyâs Frankenstein and Polidoriâs The Vampyre into a delirious collision of literary history, eroticism, Gothic horror, and psychedelic excess.
