Photographers, this invitation is for you. 📸

Photography is more than taking pictures. It’s a conversation between generations. One photographer inspires another. One image changes the way we see. One body of work becomes part of the history of the medium.

On October 3, we’re bringing that community together in Indianapolis for the 2026 International Photography Hall of Fame Induction & Awards Ceremony.

Come celebrate the photographers and visionaries who came before us.
Come meet the people making photographs today. Come connect with the next generation.

And most importantly, come be part of the photography community.

Today we say goodbye to a true legend.

Jay Maisel has passed away at 95, leaving behind an extraordinary body of work and generations of photographers who saw the world differently because of him.

Jay had an incredible ability to find light, color, gesture, and beauty in the everyday. From his iconic photograph of Miles Davis for Kind of Blue to decades of personal and commercial work, his photographs didn’t just document the world, they taught us how to see it.

But perhaps his greatest legacy was the people he inspired. Jay was a generous teacher, mentor, and relentless advocate for looking harder, seeing more, and trusting your own vision.

He was inducted into the Photography Hall of Fame in 2020.

Rest in peace, Jay. Your way of seeing the world will live on through all of us who picked up a camera because you showed us what was possible.
