l growth of the youth in the immediate neighborhood and surrounding city, particularly those who are already engaged in the creative arts. venue, LNAC is a smoke and alcohol free environment that avoids booking acts of a commercial nature. We also strictly prohibit violent or reckless behavior and discriminatory, lewd, degrading or immoral messages that fail to support the standards of the community or the mission of the venue. The acoustics are among the best and the intimate setting is ideal for experimental music. We have made a reputation for offering the traveling performers home-cooked meals, lodging, and a high percentage of the cash made at the door. Performers hail from Tokyo, Berlin, Amsterdam, Tel Aviv, Milan, Sweden, Rome, and Beirut (to name only a few). Musical genres include and are not limited to: free improvisation, electro-acoustic, folk, hardcore, punk, post-punk, rock, emo, math rock, noise, grind, and no-wave. All of us at LEMP are mourning the loss of Peter Brötzman. A giant in 20th and 21st century music, Brötzman excelled as a graphic artist, an assistant for Nam June Paik, founder of numerous free jazz ensembles including Machine gun, the Tentet, and Full Blast; Brötzman literally knew every significant mover shaker in new music. NPR called him "the heart and lungs of European Free Jazz".

Over the years, Brötzman made two visits to LEMP in performances none of us could ever forget. He was also scheduled to perform with Full Blast in 2020 when the pandemic shut everything down.

In addition to shaping a generation of free improvisors, Peter became a personal friend sharing insights on composers, artists and artistic movements as well as long discussions about community dynamics, architecture, experiences on the road and a true love of Serbian Coffee. His loss leaves an unfilllable hole in our lives. He will truly live in memory eternal.
