Creating artistic, academic, & advancement opportunities to feed, heal, & teach the youth of STL. Louis.

Freedom Arts & Education Center creates artistic, academic, and advancement opportunities to feed, heal, and teach the youth of St. By removing systemic barriers and building resourced spaces, youth realize their own power to become highly creative, literate, passionate, independent thinkers. Since 2012, we have supported youth through accessible community arts programs, uncolonized educational resources, enriching multidiscipline summer programs, in-school advocacy, and job opportunities.

Even though we’re young, we know what’s right. We know what’s fair and what’s unfair. We’re learning who we can and cannot trust, who will and will not listen to us. We’re seeing where the money goes, and it’s to an empire that wants to turn us into zombies. Our schools are being closed and privatized. Our rent is going up and our neighborhoods are being taken over. Racism, classism, and all the phobias are on the rise.
We don’t want this. We don’t deserve this.

We deserve free, quality schools. We deserve access to healthy food. We deserve arts, education, and opportunities to explore and grow. We deserve parks and playgrounds. We deserve jobs. We deserve good housing our families can afford. We deserve leaders who know and love us. We deserve spaces where we’re safe and free.

We are not the problem.
We are the solution.
We are the future.
Do you hear us?

The Wednesday Word from Bobby Seale:
“Revolution is about the need to re-evolve political, economic and social justice and power back into the hands of the people…
That’s what revolution is about!”

It’s ! 📙📗📕

from Banned Books Week :
“Since 1982, Banned Books Week has enlightened the public about attempts to censor books in libraries, schools, and bookstores. It brings together the entire book community - librarians, educators, authors, publishers, booksellers, and readers of all types - in shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas.
LET BOOKS BE WRITTEN! Book bans decrease the amount and diversity of materials available in our libraries and schools. They harm readers, authors, and the institutions we hold dear.”

and protect the Freedom to Read!

💛💚❤️

Happy birthday to one of our heroes and guides, Fannie Lou Hamer. Her resolve and fearlessness inspire us to never shy away from the mission, and to always give homage to those that carried before us.

“When I liberate myself, I liberate others. If you don’t speak out ain’t nobody going to speak out for you.”

“We have to build our own power. We have to win every single political office we can, where we have a majority of black people... The question for black people is not, when is the white man going to give us our rights, or when is he going to give us good education for our children, or when is he going to give us jobs-if the white man gives you anything-just remember when he gets ready he will take it right back. We have to take for ourselves.”

“The only way we can make this thing of equality a reality in America is to do all we can to destroy this system and bring this out to the light that has been under the cover all these years.”

“I am sick and tired of being sick and tired, and we want a change. We want a change in this society in America because, you see, we can no longer ignore the facts and getting our children to sing ‘Oh say can you see, by the dawn’s early light, what so proudly we hailed.’ What do we have to hail here? The truth is the only thing going to free us.”
