Big female oscar and big male blood parrot (sterile hybrid). They fight like this all the time. I think what’s happening is the female oscar wants a male oscar, and the hybrid just wants to mate with whoever is willing. It has identity issues. The blood parrot is going to find a new home eventually when I move more oscars in. Weird mixed up fish.

I have two Polypterus Endlicheri. The largest of the genus, they can reach up to 30”. I’ve got a pair but they probably won’t reproduce for a couple years. I was lucky to get a male! Only about 30% are born male.

These are my two long fin oscars. They’ve been selectively bred for those long, flowing fins. But they are sort bland for color. They actually look more like wild fish. When you select your breeders based on the length of their fins rather than color, that can happen. They’ve grown fast and have been moved to the 220 gallon and are doing well!

Here is my Polypterus Lapradei chillin’ with his pal, Polypterus Teugelsi. Lapradeis aren’t hard to find. But I’m kind of proud of the Teugelsi. They were only just identified in 2004 in the Cross River basin in Cameroon. It’s considered rare!
