Acting for Professionals
September 14-November 9
Instructor: Annamaria Pileggi

This eight-week advanced scene study course focuses on the training approach created by Earle Gister and developed by Annamaria Pileggi. Emphasis is placed on text analysis and its embodied application in a master class workshop environment. Students explore both realism and non-realism in rehearsing and performing two scenes throughout the course.

The actor is given a specific guideline for character analysis that places particular emphasis on given circumstances, interrelationships, objective, and action. In the first scene, which focuses on psychological realism, the actor hones the ability to apply text work to the moment-to-moment playing of a scene. In the second scene, which explores non-realism, the actor builds on the foundation created in the first half of the course by moving into more theatrical styles of playing.

• Space is limited. Students will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Classes will take place on Monday evenings, 7:00-10:00pm in Gaslight Theatre (home of St. Louis Actor’s Studio)
• The fee for this course is $300.
