Hollywood tells us to wait for the person who ‘completes us.’ Culture says the right spouse will make life whole. But the truth? No human being can carry that weight — only God can. 🙌

In my latest blog, I unpack the lie of making your spouse your savior, show how this crushes relationships, and share how Scripture calls us to find our joy, peace, and identity in Christ alone.

Does your spouse ‘complete’ you? Lets uncover the lie of looking to a spouse for ultimate happiness, explore how misplaced expectations can crush relationships, and see how God alone provides true joy, peace, and identity. Drawing on Scripture, illustration, and gospel hope, discover how freeing...

💬 “You deserve it!” — a slogan we’ve heard for decades. It promises comfort, indulgence, and self-gratification. But what does the scripture say we truly deserve?

From Genesis to the cross, Scripture tells a radically different story—one that replaces entitlement with gratitude and indulgence with grace. In Christ, we don’t get what we deserve… we get far better.

Dive into this reflection on cultural slogans, biblical truth, and how to live every blessing with thankfulness. 🙏

I gotta share a story about this silly Chick-fil-A cow. Today, as we waited in the drive through at the Chick-fil-A Brentwood (MO) and all the cars were zippering in as the two lanes merged into one in a very friendly manner. We watched car after car go right lane, left lane, right lane, left lane, and so on. Then came our turn to merge in, we let the left lane car go in keeping with the pattern and started pulling forward to take our turn only to witness the second person in the left lane break the pattern and cut us off to prevent us from being able to merge so they could get the spot ahead of us. Needless to say I was ticked but there wasn’t much I could do about it. As with any other Chick-fil-A, the line was quick and it really wasn’t a big deal, but I was still stewing on the rudeness of the person infront of me. So we pull up to the window and they hand us our food and the person handing us our food says,

“Congratulations, you’re customer number 100!! Here is a cow with some coupons on it for you! Thanks for coming by today!”

Wow, I was so excited. I mean, if that guy hadn’t cut us off, he would have gotten this cow and the coupons that came along with it and we would have been stuck as customer 99, but he unknowingly did us a favor and made us the 100th customer in line. Moral of the story: wait your turn, and if someone else doesn’t, maybe it won’t turn out so bad. Just one more reason to love Chick-fil-A.

Ever feel like God’s plan isn’t matching up with the future you imagined? You're not alone. The Israelites had the same struggle—dreaming of milk and honey, only to find themselves wandering in the desert. Why? Because they didn’t want God’s better… they wanted their own.

In this blog post, we dig into the story of Exodus, modern psychology, and the false idol of “a better tomorrow.” When we place our hope in a version of the future we invented, we often miss God’s daily providence and lose sight of Christ’s finished work.

Learn how to spot this subtle idol in your own life.
Break free from false expectations.
Rejoice in the better that Christ has already won.

Stop waiting for tomorrow to be better. Start seeing what God is doing today.

This blog uncovers the modern idol of the “better tomorrow,” showing how false hopes can blind us to God's daily provision and true deliverance in Christ.

The end is near!… or at least, the end of my story. If you’ve been following along, this epilogue covers the resolve to my situation and details one last dramatic hick-up in my path out of the military into seminary. I plan to start another blog in a few weeks, the topic is YTBD. Feel free to comment ideas that you would be interested in reading about! Thank you all for taking the time to keep up with my story!

In this final chapter of To Will and To Act, Tyler Simmons faces a sudden call back to active duty — and a breakthrough only five days later. After over a year of delays, God brings resolution in His perfect timing. From seminary classrooms to separation orders, this chapter marks the close of a m...

The final chapter of my journey from flight school to seminary is up! I'll have an Epilogue to tie up some final things next week, but it has been a great experience to write this all out and think through these events, once again. Thank you to everyone who has been following along, so far.

In this last chapter of the narrative, I detail a final task that was resolved with percision timing only through the work of God. I also acknowledge some of the people who played important roles in this process. Stick around, there will be an Epliogue coming next week!
