The Foundry Art Centre hosts art exhibitions featuring works from local, national, and international artists. There are 20 artist studios upstairs where artists make works on-site and connect with visitors as they create. The Foundry Art Centre is also a performance space for music, theatre, and dance. The Foundry Art Centre is free and open to the public. Financial assistance has been provided by the Missouri Arts Council.

You make beautiful work. Now let's make sure the world can find it. build is a hands-on Squarespace workshop led by Sara Graham, founder of EngageTaste, a St. Louis web design studio, and a Squarespace Platinum Designer & Certified Expert Trainer. In two hours, participants build a real website from the ground up — no design background or tech experience required. Sara will guide you through everything from page structure and branding to layout, content, and publishing.

Whether you're launching something new or refreshing a site that never quite captured your personality, you’ll leave with a beautiful new website, empowered to manage it yourself.

Participants are asked to bring a laptop and will receive a short prep questionnaire in advance to help them arrive ready to build. If you need accommodations for this program, please contact the Foundry as soon as you are able.

A fabulously artful First Friday awaits!

Join us this Friday, September 4th, from 5-8pm, for the unveiling of the 2026-27 Grand Hall Art Project by Amy Reidel, the opening reception of Luba Briginets' Stories in Thread, and live music by Lo Stone.

Art activities, the Foundry bar, and Main Gallery exhibitions by Quinn Antonio Briceño, Ido Michaeli, and Common Lore will be on view .

Go on an artistic journey with artist Anna Schenker. In this exciting workshop students will be introduced to paper rubbings with found materials. Through this process one will consider how touch, texture, and mark-making offer a new way to learn and directly engage with day-to-day environments. Anna will present the history of rubbings and then lead the class outside the Foundry to closely explore nature and collect natural materials along the Katy Trail. From there students will create a series of rubbings that will be assembled into a simple artist-book. Students are also welcome to bring in materials from home - such as leaves, branches, bark, architectural materials, and anything that piques their interest! This workshop is for all skill levels and is open to students ages 16 and up.

Anna Schenker is artist and educator based in St. Louis, MO. She received her BS in Art and Psychology from Skidmore College and her MFA from Washington University in St. Louis. Anna creates rubbings, paintings, and sculptures that record direct interaction with her immediate surroundings. Through physical actions and systems for making, she uses touch as a tool to gain understanding and preserve a moment in time. These close investigations seek to slow down our initial perception of environments and create space for wonder and play.

Have you ever wanted to make your own silver jewelry? In this six-week course, artist Shanika Hartrum will teach you the art of silversmithing one skill at a time. She will help you build your confidence, create beautiful jewelry, and discover just how much you can create in six weeks! Each week introduces new skills while building on the techniques you've already learned, so you'll finish the course with beautiful jewelry, practical experience, and the confidence to continue creating on your own. You will experience a relaxed, supportive, and hands-on studio environment where there is plenty of individual instruction and bench time. You will work with professional jewelry-making tools and utilize traditional silversmithing techniques while creating items that you will be proud to wear.

No experience is necessary. Whether you've never picked up a torch or you're looking to build your skills, this course is designed to meet you where you are. Come ready to learn, create, and have fun alongside fellow makers in a welcoming, no-fail studio environment. Tools and materials will be provided; you will have the option to purchase additional materials to accommodate larger pieces and/or added embellishments. This class is for all skill levels and is available for teen and adult students 16+.

This Thursday, August 27th is the last day to sign up for our FUNdamentals of Pottery class for tweens!

In this 3-week class, Maddie O’Keefe will introduce students to the FUNdamentals of creating art on the potter’s wheel. Students will learn the basic skills of creating work on the wheel including centering, opening, pulling and shaping. Maddie will also introduce finishing techniques such as trimming, adding handles, and glazing. This class is for ages 8-13 with little to no experience in ceramics. If you need accommodations for this program, please contact the Foundry as soon as you are able.

Currently on view in the galleries - The Redwood Curtain by Victor J. Webster, one of sixteen works on paper made specifically for Common Lore: Circulation, Craft, and Collective Myth.

Using Webster's unique frottage process, they stand as a direct response to how tattoo artists have always recycled and narrowed imagery to meet the demands of the profession, whether that entails American Traditional artists working from generation flash sheets, Japanese tattoo artists drawing from a constrained selection of plants and animals, or a Samoan artist tattooing an almost uniform pe'a every time.

These monoprints utilize very few simplified motifs - cut from blocks - in a repetitive fashion. Rather than the works being pre-designed, each piece informs the next in a process of linear discovery and evolution. A tattoo artist working within any kind of folk tradition learns the lesson of how to solve each problem and applies that to the next piece.

Common Lore: Circulation, Craft, & Collective Myth is open through September 19 in the Main Galleries.

New East Gallery exhibition season is nearly here!

The Foundry Art Centre is pleased to announce the opening of Stories in Thread, a solo exhibition by Luba Briginets.

Briginets' current work bring together meticulous handwork, contemporary design, and a love of color and texture. Through embroidery, she creates unique works that explore the relationship of traditions, materials, and techniques reimagined through a contemporary perspective. Briginets' creative work spans sculpture, fiber arts, embroidery, and painting, with a practice that reflects a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, materials, texture, and the expressive possibilities of traditional techniques.

Stories in Thread will open in the East Gallery of the Foundry Art Centre on Friday, September 4, 5-8pm, as part of the Foundry's First Friday programming. Art activities, live music by Lo Stone, the Foundry bar, and more will be available throughout the evening. The unveiling of Amy Reidel’s three-part work Cradle & Fall: The Grand Hall Version will also be unveiled that evening. Exhibitions by Quinn Antonio Briceño, Ido Michaeli, and Common Lore will be on view in the Main Galleries.

Stories in Thread will remain on view through November 1st.
