St. Charles, Mo’s FREE Steamroller Print Event returns this Saturday, June 13, from 11AM-5PM at the Foundry Art Centre. Follow us to stay in the loop as we get ready this week!

Block Party is a FREE festival that features interactive art projects for all ages, a print market, food trucks, beer booths, music, heavy machinery, and steamroller printing.

The Foundry’s Block Party centers on a unique and over-the-top method of printmaking, using a STEAMROLLER! Large-scale images created by regional artists are carved on large woodblocks. Kansas City-based Twin Hound Print Shop and their team of inkers roll ink onto these blocks, canvas is laid on top, and then the whole thing is run over with a steamroller – squishing the ink from the woodblock to the sheet. These fantastic prints will be taken into the Foundry’s Grand Hall to dry on display.

This Saturday at BLOCK PARTY the Steamroller Print Event, shop art from local printmakers at our annual print fair.

This FREE festival features interactive art projects for all ages, a print market, food trucks, beer booths, live music, heavy machinery, and steamroller printing.

In addition to the steamroller prints, the Foundry’s Block Party features an interactive, heavy machinery display in the Foundry’s parking lot, where families can interact with the St. Charles Public Works Department and more.

Visitors are invited to visit artist and sponsor booths, print demonstrations, free art activities for all ages, and of course, to view all of the prints created throughout the day.

Last but not least, we will be introducing you to Darkstina!

Enter a strange and scary place to see the work of Darkstina, a family art business of wife and husband team Christina and Cyrus.

Based in Los Angeles, California, Christina is a professional artist who has worked at studios including Disney and Dreamworks. Cyrus is a jack of all trades artist who has experience in acting, writing, photography, and more. They started A Strange and Scary Place by Darkstina with the need to express themselves more authentically as artists, and love art that rides the line between creepy and cute.

Alongside their large block for Block Party, they also have their exhibition, A Strange & Scary Place, on display in Gallery III as an extension of the Off the Block Print Show. Block Party - The Steamroller Print Event is happening on June 13th at the Foundry Art Centre in St. Charles, MO!

We are excited to introduce our next Block Party artist, the Central Print team!

Central Print is a non-profit arts organization with a mission to promote the art of letterpress printmaking by providing workshops, classes, and programs focusing on design and production using historic printing equipment. It is their vision to preserve the craft of letterpress printmaking, expand, and modernize its use while building awareness of St. Louis’ historic role in the development and growth of printing.

Happy First Friday!

Join us tonight from 5 pm to 8 pm for the opening of our Off the Block exhibition and Darkstina's exhibition A Dark and Scary Place.

Off the Block, the Foundry’s annual group exhibition, celebrates the art of printmaking. Featuring the diverse perspectives of 30+ printmakers from across the country, the show explores a range of printmaking methods, from classic etching and silkscreen to cutting-edge digital approaches. Themes explore all facets of the human experience - love, loss, mental health, human fallibility, humor, the mundane, and political commentary.

As an extension of the Off the Block Print Show, A Strange & Scary Place features Darkstina’s beautifully imaginative and creepy block prints and screen prints, as well as their completed large-scale print from last year’s Block Party, Ozark Howler.

Off the Block marks the exciting start of the Foundry Art Centre’s month-long tribute to printmaking, building anticipation for the 6th Annual Block Party steamroller printing event on June 13th.

The Foundry Art Centre is offering an opportunity to draw from a live model without instruction. The Foundry will provide a model for 2 hours during which participants can practice their figure drawing at their own pace, work on incorporating a figure into an existing piece, or however they’d like to use their time. Foundry staff members – who are also practicing artists – will facilitate the session. Each session will include a series of short poses (1 – 5 min) as well as some longer poses (10 – 20min).

This class is for adult students (ages 21+). Space is limited and registration is required. It is recommend that participants bring tools and surfaces of their choice to the session.

The next class is Wednesday, June 10, 2026. Sign up now on our website!
