Happy Earth Day from all of us at the NC Hellbender Festival!

We’re grateful to live, work, and play in a place where the rivers still run cold and clear enough for one of the oldest creatures in North America to call home. That’s not something to take for granted. That’s something to celebrate, protect, and show up for.

We’ll see you on the Toe River this September.

Vendor applications are now open for the 2026 NC Hellbender Festival!

We're looking for artists and makers, food trucks, and nonprofit and conservation organizations to join us for a day that's equal parts celebration and purpose. The festival lives in Downtown Spruce Pine on September 5th, right alongside the North Toe River, and we want vendors who feel connected to this place and love it as much as we do.

Space is limited, and the artist application is juried. Applications close July 31st.

Last year more than 5,000 people came out. We think this year is going to be something special. We'd love for you to be part of it.

Hey everybody!
Your friendly neighborhood hellbender wants you to remember your water bottle when you come visit us tomorrow for the NC Hellbender Festival in Spruce Pine.
We have a water filtration system just for the festival and are using compostable cups and straws, but the best option to keep you hydrated is a reusable water bottle!

On the eve of the first North Carolina Hellbender Festival, I want to take a moment to recognize our incredible team. Katie, Carter, Brody, and Sophia have put in countless hours of planning, organizing, and heavy lifting to bring this event together.

Their dedication has made tomorrow possible, and I’m so grateful to have them by my side as we get ready to welcome everyone to Downtown Spruce Pine.

Let’s do this!
