When we picture Charles M. Russell, we often imagine bucking broncos, buffalo hunts, and sweeping Montana plains. But beginning in the early 1900s,...

I am so excited to announce that my piece “The Wait” has been accepted into the “Unbridled” all women’s western art show at the AR Mitchell Museum of Western Art in Trinidad, Colorado. I love everything about the purpose and spirit behind this show and I am honored to show my art among all of these talented women.

I always love C.M. Russell’s letters ❤️

Featured in our current exhibit, “The Cinematic West: The Art That Made The Movies,” is a rare gem of Western storytelling and early Hollywood friendship: an illustrated letter from famed cowboy artist Charles M. Russell to silent film star Douglas Fairbanks. 💌🤠🎭

Written after visiting the set of “The Three Musketeers” in 1921, Russell’s letter is more than fan mail. It’s a heartfelt tribute from one legendary storyteller to another. In it, Russell salutes Fairbanks as “an actor of action always,” while reminding him not to forget the true adventurers of the American West:

“The old time cowman right now is as much history as Richard the Lionheart… The West had some fighters. Longhaired Wild Bill Hickok with a cap and ball C**t could have made a corral full of King Arthur’s men climb a tree.” 💥🐎

In our galleries, see the result of this creative exchange: a stunning 3D portrait of Fairbanks as D’Artagnan, sculpted by Russell himself.
