As Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month comes to a close, we would like to highlight an artist that we think everyone should know about, Nam June Paik!
Considered the founder of “video art”, Nam June Paik (1932-2006) was inspired by neon lights, television sets, and music. He is credited with the first use of the term "electronic super highway" to describe the future of telecommunications, a topic that is widely explored throughout his practice. Until his death in 2006, Paik believed in technology’s ability to foster connections among people, between nations, and across cultures. His work has widely influenced contemporary artists and newer generations of artists working in the realm of technology.
