Springfield Greek Festival

After reviewing the parish's present resources and abilities, we have to announce that we will not be hosting a festival this year.
We are sad to cancel, but we are glad to have been able to keep up the festival annually for so long.
Thank you to all our supporters!

Yesterday, we gathered to say goodbye to our dear friend Manoli. He was a founding member of St. Thomas the Apostle Orthodox Church, which met in his family's home in the early days. Manoli was also instrumental in bringing together people from our community and creating the Springfield Greek Festival. If you met him, you'll never forget him. Memory eternal.

Springfield jeweler Manoli Savvenas battled cancer with the same determination he once showed in the ring.

We have completely run out of food!! We are so sorry but also so greatful to the largest turnout we've had!!

Tomorrow is the day!!
Join us from 11 A.M. to 8 P.M. at St. Thomas the Apostle Orthodox Church for our Greek festival!
Since our festival is one day this year make sure to come on by!
The day will be full of greek food, dancing, music and more!
After 8 P.M. there will be a Vespers service for all those who would like to attend and witness an Orthodox evening worship service!

The history of the Orthodox Church is rich and ancient, unfolding primarily in Greece in the early years. In Rhodes Greece you have to take a donkey to get to the top of the Acropolis. luckily for you, all you have to do is drive to 4200 S Holiday Ave, Springfield, MO 65810, on September 10th at 11am for the 14th Annual Greek Festival of Springfield Missouri !! Two weeks away, Opa! 🇬🇷

We are excited to be able to resume our signature event this year! It will again be a family-oriented celebration of everything Greek with tasty food and lots of activities!

The menu includes:

· Gyros, grilled meat on pita bread topped with tomatoes and onions with tzatziki, a cucumber and yogurt sauce, on the side.

· Souvlaki, marinated chicken on a stick, served on grilled pita bread with veggies and tzatziki on the side.

· Kefthedes, lamb and pork meatballs in a marinera sauce.

· A vegetarian meze plate of Kalamata olives, feta cheese, dolmathes (stuffed grape leaves) and pita bread.

· Savory phyllo-wrapped spinach and cheese triangles.

· Baklava, phyllo layered with nuts and drenched in honey, and baklava sundaes.
