Community Music School of Springfield's mission is to provide an equitable and inclusive center of excellence in music education, arts learning, and cultural engagement that empowers individuals, inspires creative passion, and promotes well-being in our community
Since 1983, Community Music School of Springfield (CMSS) has created access to the arts for tens of thousands of families in Greater Sp
ringfield. As a leading non-profit arts education center, CMSS serves over 2,000 students per week at our downtown Springfield location and in our community partnership programs. CMSS’ largest partnership program, Sonido Musica, is recognized across the country as a successful model for creative youth development programming. Sonido Musica provides weekly music classes to over 1000 elementary, middle and high school students in the Springfield and Holyoke Public schools. Since our founding, CMSS has awarded financial aid in excess of $2 million to set young people on pathways for success. Our faculty of 50 distinguished music educators offer instruction at all levels in a wide variety of instruments and genres. Our programs include music lessons, ensembles, Prelude Preschool of the Arts, the Adaptive Music Program for differently-abled youth, Sonido Musica, Creative Aging, Trust Transfer Project, and CultureRx. CMSS' Prelude Preschool of the Arts is the only full day arts-infused preschool in Western Massachusetts. Our innovative, integrated approach to learning features a warm creative atmosphere to encourage a young child's imagination, curiosity and intellect. CMSS is able to provide our community with affordable, accessible music education because of the generous support of donors and sponsors. We welcome you to visit us for a tour, a music lesson, or an upcoming performance.
