Happy Weight
At first glance, Tom was an unremarkable man. He was overweight, with a thinning patch of hair on top of his head and a face that was easy to forget. He had always struggled with his weight, and he was never the brightest bulb in the box. But there was something about Tom that drew people to him - his infectious laugh, his positive attitude, and his easy charm.
Tom worked at a local grocery store, bagging groceries and helping customers find what they needed. He was content with his simple life, and he never let anyone get him down. But there were some people who couldn't resist taking shots at him, making fun of his weight and his intelligence.
At first, Tom didn't know how to react. He would laugh along with them, not wanting to upset anyone or make a scene. He’s dealt with it like this his whole life. But then something strange started to happen. Every time someone made fun of him, he felt a strange surge of energy. It was like a switch had been flipped inside of him, and suddenly he was slightly more handsome, more charming, and more confident. Almost unnoticeably at first.
The first time it happened, Tom didn't think much of it. He had been bagging groceries for an elderly woman who had commented on how slow he was. She had laughed and told him that he needed to lose some weight if he wanted to keep up with the younger baggers. Tom had smiled and nodded along, but as soon as she walked away, he felt something shift inside of him. Suddenly, he felt more alive, more attractive, and more confident than he ever had before.
Over the next few weeks, Tom started to notice a pattern. Every time someone made fun of him, he felt a rush of energy and a surge of confidence. He started to enjoy the negative attention, seeking out people who would tease him so that he could feel that rush again.
As Tom's appearance and demeanor began to change, people started to take notice. They were drawn to him, fascinated by the way he seemed to glow with confidence and charm. Women started to flirt with him, and even the guys who used to make fun of him started to treat him with more respect.
Tom was living the life he had always dreamed of - he had a newfound confidence and charm, and people were starting to see him in a whole new light. But deep down, he knew that this wasn't who he really was. The perks were too easy to attain. He had always been content with his simple life, and he didn't want to become someone who thrived on attention and validation.
One day, while he was bagging groceries for a regular customer, she made a comment about how much weight he had lost. Tom didn't know what to say - he hadn't been trying to lose weight, and he certainly didn't feel any different. But as soon as she made the comment, he felt that rush of energy and confidence again.
It was then that Tom realized what was happening. He had been relying on the validation of others to feel good about himself, and it was starting to change him in ways he didn't like. He was content. He knew that he needed to find a way to be happy with who he was, regardless of what others thought.
So Tom started to make changes in his life. He started eating healthier and exercising more, not to lose weight, but because it made him feel good. He started studying the industries that he was passionate about and challenging himself intellectually, not because he wanted to prove anyone wrong, but because he enjoyed learning.
As Tom became more content with himself, he found that he didn't need the validation of others to get that feeling. He was happy with who he was, flaws and all, and he knew that that was all that mattered. The rush of energy and confidence he used to feel when someone made fun of him was gone, replaced by a quiet contentment and self-assurance.
While Tom still worked at the grocery store, still bagging groceries and helping customers find what they needed, he did it with a newfound sense of peace and happiness, content in the knowledge that he was enough, just as he was.
He began climbing the ranks at his job and even took on a second job where his potential is valued. Tom got to experience the satisfaction of being beyond the calls of the women that used to turn him down. He’s too busy to provide what they need. Tom got to experience being pursued by a woman who could not control how highly she respected him. It was better than any of the times when he believed he was in love.
With a sense of purpose in his life, as well as the encouragement and support Tom receives from his woman, he powers through each endeavor and showers his people in provisions.
