Vandivort Center Theatre The former home to Springfield Contemporary Theatre.

The Vandivort Center Theatre was operated from December 1995 to January 2013 by Louis Schaeffer as the home of Springfield Contemporary Theatre. The theatre officially closed January 5, 2013 in order for the building to be converted to a 45-room boutique hotel. During the company's 17-year history at the Vandivort Center Theatre it presented hundreds of productions including area premieres such as

HAIR, Richard O'Brien's THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, Edward Albee's THE GOAT or Who is Sylvia?, AVENUE Q, WIT, BAT BOY: THE MUSICAL, THE PILLOWMAN, THE LARAMIE PROJECT, ALL MY SONS, ART, EVIL DEAD: THE MUSICAL and THE VA**NA MONOLOGUES as well as world premieres by Ned Wilkinson, Sandy Asher, Bryan Moses, James Billings and Herbert Kaplan including DAWG POUND BLUES, JULIE BUNNY MUST DIE!, EMMA, IN NO SENSE, SHEER WILL and THE NUTLEY PAPERS.
