This weekend was supposed to be ours! We were so excited to share Shrek’s story of love, friendship, and believing in yourself! We’re not giving up hope yet, but regardless if we get to perform at some point or not, this season truly has been something special!

Shrek Family, we love you, miss you, and believe that what makes you special makes you incredibly strong.

We’re SO excited to announce that for this year’s 2019-2020 season...we’re headed to the SWAMP! Get ready for a princess-saving, dragon-loving, ogre-scaring, donkey-pestering, fairytale misfit’s adventure!

Our first meeting will be Tuesday 9/17/19 from 2:45-4:30 in the Carver Library! We’ll discuss rehearsal and production dates, audition tips and tricks, and what to expect as a Carver Troupe member!

Come check us out and learn what Drama Club is all about! See Mrs. Guinn (Room 145) if you have any questions or conflicts! It’s a Big, Bright, Beautiful World, and we want you to join us!

We are Carver Theatre.

As Oscar Wilde once said, “I regard the theatre as the greatest of all art forms, the most immediate way in which a human being can share with another the sense of what it is to be a human being.”

Carver Middle School takes pride in the Performing Arts. Not many, if any, other middle schools in the Springfield Public School District provide the opportunity for students in 6th-8th grades to immerse themselves in the full theatre experience, similar to what the high schools offer. Our students learn audition tips and tricks and how to collaborate with cross-grade level peers while creating set designs, practicing stage movement, learning characterization, and experiencing the rush and reward of performing for a live audience. Carver Theatre is more than just a fun outlet or after-school club, it also serves as a bridge for those students who choose to continue with theatre into high school or in their personal lives.

The Performing Arts are pivotal in teaching life skills, teamwork, and grit. Here at Carver, we take pride in ensuring that our Cougars make life-long memories by building on one another’s strengths and celebrating each other’s differences.
