Greetings from Formed Gallery and Forming Art Studios. Our mission has always been to create a welcoming place where artists and neighbors can connect, create, and be inspired, and we’re excited to share what’s coming up in our creative community. New classes are opening soon in the Studios, offering fresh opportunities for artists of all levels to learn, experiment, and grow. And if you’re looking ahead to summer and beyond, applications for Art of the Ozarks are now open — we encourage artists to apply early and be part of this event, now in it's 4th Year! Thank you for being part of the community that makes these spaces thrive. My heart is full.

With Gratitude,

Laura

🌟 The Itty Bitty Art Show Is Now on Display! 🌟

The tiniest treasures have officially taken over Formed Gallery, and you can enjoy them now through the end of the month. This charming collection of small‑scale works showcases the creativity of our local artists in a big way — each piece proving that size has nothing to do with impact.

While you’re here, explore the rest of our multi‑artist gallery featuring work from over 45 local creators, with styles ranging from fine art originals to apparel, home goods, and more.

Formed Gallery is located in the heart of downtown Springfield at 210 E Walnut St, Suite 100, and we’re open Tuesday–Saturday, 10–6 and Sunday, 10–2.

Come see these itty bitty masterpieces before they’re gone. They may be small, but they’re full of heart.

Upcoming Workshops

Sagitarius Full Moon Candlemaking + Mini Astrology Readings
$35.00

Full moons happen when the Moon forms a 180-degree opposition from the Sun, reflecting the Sun's light for all to see. This opposition calls us to balance the way we assert our identities in the outer world and how we receive these experiences within —shining a spotlight of awareness on what has come to fruition since the last new moon within the same sign. The full moon signifies what we need to release in order to find balance after this culmination.

This lunation takes place in the sign of Sagittarius —the seeker of Universal truths— calling us to find balance along the axis of mind. While the Gemini sun shines its external light on logical details and social learning, the receptive light of the moon reflects this into big-picture philosophies. This is the quintessential energy of the phrase, "think globally, act locally."

You’re invited to join this workshop at Forming Art Studios to find your lunar balance in the form of candle-making. Astrologer Misty Lane will provide an overview on the meaning of this lunation with mini astrology readings for each participant. Artist Laura Ingalsbe will then guide us through making intention candles to aid your process of release.

We’re right on the corner of South Ave. and Walnut St. in the black gothic-style building with the giant Lao Tzu mural --you cannot miss it!

Participants will use all of the knowledge they have gained to create a final self-portrait project at the end of the four weeks.

Get acquainted with essential drawing materials, including pencils of different grades, smudge sticks, and kneaded erasers.
Learn the basics of shading 3-D objects.
Start understanding facial proportions and how to draw the human head.

Week 2: Enhancing Observation and Technique
Continue building on your understanding of facial proportions and developing value through shading.
Develop accuracy in drawing facial features through mirroring exercises.
Learn to draw from sight instead of memory.

Week 3: Focusing in on the Details
Dive deeper into drawing specific facial features and specific techniques, tips, and tricks.
Practice techniques for drawing hair and different textures.
Engage in exercises that break down each area of the face for improved detail and accuracy.

Week 4: Final Project and Reflection
Apply all the techniques learned over the four weeks to create a final self-portrait.
Receive individualized guidance and feedback from the instructor.
Compare your final self-portrait with the initial drawing from week one to observe your progress.

Join us and transform your approach to drawing portraits with hands-on practice, expert guidance, and a supportive learning environment. By the end of this course, you'll have not only a beautiful self-portrait but also a solid foundation in portrait drawing techniques.
