After seeing these silicone forms from all over IG I finally decided to take the plunge on one for my coasters. I have to say they aren’t inexpensive but man this thing is beefy! The walls are very thick and it feels super durable. I also picked up some of their form release spray to help prolong its life. Now to get to work

Yesterday I got the time to finish up my new CNC storage cabinet for under my QCW table. Before this I had an old plastic three drawer tote that sagged and was cracked. What an upgrade this is. I’ve been experimenting with my shop furniture and making drawers with no glides. I’ve seen variations on this technique on several pages, some with dados in the cabinet sides, and some using scraps to act as the guides. Having made both versions now I prefer this one. I’m also extremely excited to finally have a place to hang my touchprobe instead of it sitting on the floor, like it has for the last 2 years. Thanks to for the touchprobe holder!

These little Ohio catch all trays were a big hit last year at my Christmas show. I’m hoping that this year will be the same so I’ve been working on these a little at a time on my which makes this easy work. Sanding these is the hardest part, the size and shape make these a little awkward

Really excited to add this new vacuum table to my . I’ve tried all kinds of hold downs, double sided tape, clamps, blue tape and super glue, and all of them had problems. I’m really excited to see what this tables capabilities are. Customer service is already great. I got one incorrect part with my order. I reached out and let them know and within 5 minutes they had a replacement shipped out to me. Now that’s fast! Thanks !

Just added this table saw miter extension from to my shop and it’s awesome! Instructions were super easy to follow and it got its maiden run today on a 20” tall cutting board, worked great! Thanks for making a quality product Izzy. If you’re in the market get one before he sells out, if he hasn’t already

As we all enjoy our first taste of summer this year let us not forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we can continue to enjoy our freedoms. I’ll be thinking of those that I served with that never made it home, especially my friend Tony, whose grave at Arlington is pictured here.

Spent some time milling lumber for my next batch of serving boards today. I love the milling process. It’s time that I get to put on a podcast, like talking about burnout, and just be. It’s always fun to see what’s under that rough exterior of each piece. I’ll be turning this pile of lumber into some serving boards

I can’t believe that it’s almost the end of the school year! Our kids get out in May which is crazy to me since my school was always mid June. Our youngest has had some awesome teachers this year so I had to come up with some good end of the year gifts. This year I went with sliding lid pencil boxes engraved with their names. I let my daughter pick out the wood species that I used and then pick which teacher gets which box. I used Sapele, Maple, and Bubinga with quartersawn Ash for the lids. Here’s hoping that they love them! Thanks to all the teachers

Not much exciting going on in my shop today other than sanding so I decided to share this finished shot of the plaid board that I made a couple weeks ago. I was very happy with the results but I also have some ideas for how to make it better the next time. My first show this year isn’t until May so I’m going to keep cranking away on inventory and I’m trying a bunch of new things. Stay tuned!

Got a few hours in the shop this weekend between lacrosse games and some yard work. I started yesterday with rough lumber and it’s been about 3 hours of work to get to this point with these two boards. The left one is a new pattern for me and the one on the right I’ve made before but love. Up next will be flattening using the and my drum sander

That’s a wrap on this router table build! I’m so glad to have the storage that I needed for all of my router accessories and I still have room to grow. My previous stand had no storage and my router table stuff was all over. Now it’s all easy to find within arms reach.

I added 3 small drawers for bit storage, tool storage, and one more for extras like my setup bars. Then 3 big drawers below for my templates and my other Dewalt router.

I engraved my logo on the middle section with my CNC and that is held on magnetically, see the last photo, to cover up my dust right dust box. Couple of coats of poly later she’s done and ready to use. I can’t wait to put it into action

I’ve been really enjoying making boxes lately but it’s been a bit of a pain getting all of the sides exactly even. Sounds like a jog in the works! So here you go, a table saw sled to cut those miter joints on my boxes with a t track for a stop block and some t track with a hold down to hold the pieces. First test cuts came out perfectly, and even better, I had all of the parts on hand

Miter joints are great for having the grain run continuously around a box, but it’s not the strongest joint. One way to strengthen them is to add splines, it’s functional and if you use a contrasting wood it’s beautiful as well. I cut mine with a spline jig on my tablesaw, it’s a great option. For both of these lighter colored wood boxes I went with Wenge splines for the contrast. Swipe to see the splines.

I haven’t been happy with my hold down method for my CNC lately, I’ve had a few pieces move on me and I lost them. This morning I watched a video from talking about hold downs and MAN did that make it click. So simple, I installed a square corner reference and then used some other boards and my t track clamps to hold the cutting board in place. Sometimes simple is all it takes, thanks Jef!

Very excited to add this miter gauge to my shop after Christmas. Assembly and setup was a breeze and my test cuts were perfectly square. My focus for 2024 is adding another level of accuracy to my work and this will be a big help with that. Helps that had these 20% off, so check them out if you’re in the market for one of these

CBR Woodcraft

Hi, I'm Pete the owner and craftsman for CBR Woodcraft. I discovered my love for woodworking after making a variety of items for our home, from co****le boards to built ins and it took off from there. CBR Woodcraft is a hobby woodworking shop out of my one car garage, and is a proudly veteran owned business as I've served in the Army for 18 years. The shop name is a take on my kids names, taking the first initial from each of their first names.

My shop is based in the Northern Virginia area and you can find me in the spring and fall working the craft fair circuit. I have produced a variety of products and always love a good challenge. If you are interested in a custom piece, whether it's furniture, a sign, or a cutting board, message me today and lets get started!
