Happy Monday and happy October! We ended September with one of Mrs Runge’s fun ceramics workshops. She is waiting for them to be good and dry before firing- they will be ready for pickup sometime next week- I will send an email and post pictures of the final results. BTW if you would like to see another ceramics workshop from Mrs. Runge let us know your thoughts!

The regular classes created a two part project based on the artist Alberto Giacometti. He worked in all types of mediums, but the figure was his subject. The kids learned proportions of the figure using charcoal, and we discussed why the artist may have distorted his figures for his work. In the second part, they created a sculpture of the figure, using their drawing as a reference. They used materials to mimic the metal that Giacometti used for his sculptures. I am so proud of them- each part of this project had different challenges- and they rocked it!

Tomorrow we kick off the second fall session. If you are returning our would like to join in the fun, please email [email protected] to register! Have a wonderfully creative week!

This time of year brings so much inspiration- and typically the weather is great for creating outside! I know some of you will be out of town for the break- no worries, just let me know which dates your child can attend. The dates are on our website- please email to register.
