Giants of the Earth Heritage Center Honoring the giants of our past to keep our stories alive today. Giants is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, and donations to it are tax-deductible.

Located in Spring Grove, MN’s 1st Norwegian settlement, we preserve and share local history through oral storytelling, genealogy, exhibits, cultural programs, and selection of gifts & books. Providing an advanced personalized and collaborative approach to historical preservation, Giants of the Earth Heritage Center offers genealogical and genetic genealogy assistance, digitization services, and vi

deo interviews of citizens about historical events, experiences, and values. Our local history museum exhibits provide a glimpse into Spring Grove's past, and challenge visitors to consider its future.

Giants of the Earth Heritage Center joins people throughout Norway and elsewhere in mourning the death of His Majesty King Harald V.

Most of the Norwegian immigrants who built Spring Grove and the surrounding communities left Norway before the modern Norwegian monarchy was established in 1905. Yet across the generations, the Royal Family has played an important role in keeping alive the bonds between Norway and the many Americans who, like so many in our Spring Grove area community, trace part of their heritage to Norway.

King Harald, who took refuge in the United States alongside his mother and sisters during World War II, understood and honored that connection. His warmth toward Norwegian-American communities, and the Royal Family’s longstanding recognition that these ties remain meaningful today, have been deeply appreciated.

We extend our sincere condolences to King Haakon VIII, the Royal Family, and the people of Norway.

Mange takk/thanks to all for coming out to Music & Market yesterday, the last of the season, and enjoying our Norwegian meatballs on a stick! A significantly better turnout than we anticipated, as we sold out of meatballs and our backup supply within 35 minutes. Our apologies to our guests and volunteers who missed out. We especially enjoyed introducing some of our new young Amish neighbors to a little rømmegrøt. Hope to see everyone next summer!

Join us September 13 at 2pm for Giants' Games Sunday. Come play Mahjong and Euchre. There will be people that can teach you to play them if you don't already know how to. We are also adding puzzles to the game day. You can assemble either the World of Norse Mythology 1000-piece puzzle or the World of Hans Christian Andersen's Fairy Tales 1000-piece puzzle.

Refreshments will be provided! The suggested donation is $5/person or $10/family.
