Been a while since I've done one of these color pop dog portraits. This sweet Frenchie was such a joy to draw. I made a drawing for each of his human parents. His dashing tie and adorable smile are the best, but my favorite part of a dogs portrait is their eyes that look lovingly at their owners. Thanks for requesting a commission from me.

I was surprised with an "Community Impact" award from the Jackson County Michigan Historical Society. I have been creating illustrations for Linda Hass, who has recently been appointed the first City of Jackson Historian. She is a passionate educator and writer who I have really enjoyed working with. She is the one who nominated me for the award. My work has been printed in her books, magazine articles, and now on a historical marker in downtown Jackson, MI

The society is only a year old, headed by an amazing young man Maurice Imhoff who is in the second picture. He has such big, impactful plans for the community and I am glad I can be a part of it.

The completed drawing 11x14. It's not as simple as recreating a photograph. It is two moments, two different photographs made with different technology, two different locations, two men brought together again. A moment or activity they have probably shared with eachother before but maybe rarely captured by a camera.

I always hope that these drawings help bring joy and stir up good memories to the people who commission them or who are gifted the artwork.
