History is brewing this First Friday.

Join us on Friday, September 4, in the gorgeous gardens at the Hugh Mercer Apothecary Shop where Spotsylvania's 1781 Brewing Company will be pouring a variety of decadent farmhouse ales from 5:00–8:00 p.m.

Brewer Harry Pagan will present free Brew Talks at 5:30, 6:30, and 7:30 p.m., sharing the story of beer in Revolutionary-era Virginia and the brewing traditions that inspired the beers we make today.

This is a free event, with a suggested donation of $2.50 per person. Seating for the indoor Brew Talks is limited, so reserve your spot:

Before Jamestown came Tsenacommacah, the homeland of Virginia’s Indigenous peoples.

On Thursday, August 27, historian, community member, and culture keeper Chris Custalow presents Tsenacommacah and the World the English Entered.

Drawing on historical documents, oral histories, and the knowledge of today’s Native Nations, Chris brings to life the histories of Virginia’s tribal nations, their homelands, traditions, and ways of life as the English first encountered them. It’s a history often left unexplored.

Join us for a relaxed evening of storytelling, questions, and conversation.

Ten years already? Join us as we celebrate our 10th Oktoberfest.

On Saturday, September 26, come for a full day of live music, German-inspired food, freshly brewed Märzen on tap, pours from both 1781 Brewing Company and Wilderness Run Vineyards, and pony rides from WRV Equestrian Center.

Come dressed in your best lederhosen, dirndl, or Oktoberfest attire for our Best Dressed Contest. Don't hold back. Judging begins at 4:00 p.m.
