audiences. Welcome to Spokane's premier intimate venue dedicated to providing an exceptional
listening experience for live music and unique cultural events, fostering a close connection between artists and
audiences.

Now transformed into a state-of-the-art music venue, it offers a unique atmosphere that blends the charm of the past with the innovation of the present. When guests arrive, they are greeted by large, industrial wooden doors and a gleaming "Hamilton" sign, signaling that they are about to experience something special. Inside, the space is both whimsical and welcoming, with a 30x30 cyclorama on the stage and vintage string lights illuminating the room. It's a true supper club vibe. Don Hamilton’s stunning photography graces the walls, creating a gallery-like experience. Comfortable seating, intimate candlelit tables, and a small bar complete the setting, ensuring that both artists and attendees are immersed in an unforgettable, high-quality experience. The venue is ADA accessible, centrally located with easy public transportation access, and offers free street parking, making it open and accessible to the Spokane community. What makes The Listening Room the best best acoustics you'll ever hear is because in 1980, the owner, Don Hamilton, turned it into a motion picture sound stage with complete sound insulation of the entire building. It was built to run as a photography and film production studio but it turns out the space was also made perfect for live performances.

Every festival has a story. This is ours.

When we first started dreaming up Rock The Block, we knew we wanted it to feel like something familiar. A little gritty. A little rebellious. The kind of artwork that reminds you of digging through old concert tees or flipping through classic rock records.

So local artist, Vudu Threads, created the original Rock The Block skeleton, logo, and visual identity; drawing inspiration from the iconic artwork of the ‘80s rock and hair metal era. It’s a nostalgic nod to the legendary imagery that bands like Metallica made unforgettable, while giving Rock The Block a character all its own.

Before there were stages, vendors, a street closure, or even a lineup... there was the logo and this skeleton dude holding a boombox. ⚡️💀

Now they’re both part of our very first official festival tee.

🎸 Preorder yours now through the link in our bio, or swing by the Rock The Block merch booth on July 18 to grab one while they last!

Wear the first chapter. We’ll see you on the block. ⚡️

”Bienvenidos a Spokane...”

Helmer Noel kicks things off sounding like he’s been hosting public radio for the last 20 years... and honestly, doesn’t he have the perfect radio voice? 🤣🎙️

One thing Helmer said during our conversation really stuck with us:

“Getting here, there was just an open freeway of... go. Go do what you want to do.”

He talks about how Spokane gave him the space to find his voice, to create, experiment, and grow into the artist he is today.

That’s exactly why we’re building Rock The Block.

Our city is full of incredibly talented musicians creating amazing work. Sometimes all they need is a stage, an audience, and a community willing to show up.

🎙️ Tune in tonight to Spokane Public Radio to catch Helmer’s full interview and hear more about his journey at 6 PM on KPBX 91.1

⚡ And in just ONE WEEK, you’ll be able to see Helmer perform live alongside nine other incredible local acts as we transform Dean Avenue into Spokane’s biggest community block party.

Two stages. Ten acts. Local artists & makers. Amazing food. Cold drinks. Live art. All free.

Come discover your next favorite artist.
