This Saturday, June 20, we have a special Drum Making Workshop with Titus Capoeman of the Quinault Indian Nation!

Participants will learn the fundamentals of Coastal Salish Formline art, exploring its origins, meaning, and cultural significance before creating a 12” deer hide drum complete with a wooden frame and handmade drumstick. Once the drums have dried, participants will paint their own Coastal Salish design.

In many Indigenous cultures, one of the first things a person learns to make is a gift for someone they love or respect. Talk about a cool Father’s Day or Graduation gift!

The workshop is Saturday, June 20 from 10:30am until 2:30pm at the MAC. The class is $120 or $105 for MAC Members!

We look forward to seeing you at the workshop.

We are excited to welcome .art to the MAC this summer for a series of hands-on art workshops.

Join artist Claire Edmo (Shoshone-Bannock) this Sunday for the first of three immersive plein air painting classes inspired by landscape, memory, and place.

Working outdoors and drawing inspiration from the natural environment, participants will explore the foundations of plein air painting while learning to observe light, color, and atmosphere. Claire will also guide students in translating personal experiences and connections to land into expressive artwork.

Raised on the Fort Hall Indian Reservation in southeastern Idaho, Claire incorporates her Shoshone-Bannock and Chippewa Cree heritage into her artistic practice, creating work that reflects landscape, memory, and identity.

Plein air painting classes take place June 14, July 26, and August 23. Claire’s printmaking workshop will be held July 25.

All skill levels are welcome.

Plein air painting classes are $35 for MAC Members or $45 for Non-Members.
